Tim's POV:

"I know you're worried about Lucy." Nolan seriously doesn't know when to shut his mouth, does he?

"Who said I was worried?"

"I'm just saying, she can handle herself."

"I know she can. I trained her." It's about the fact that it hurts to see another loved one go undercover.

Especially when she gets asked to go into an unknown vehicle, while the other two are left waiting. They could kill her. And we can't go in there unless she needs to be saved. Why do stupid criminals always have to be so extra? The drug test proved the thing was pure, but Salonga needed to be convinced that Lucy wasn't a cop. Or better, that she was a real chemist. This could become bad fast.

A few minutes later, Lucy appeared next to Harper and Zhang. We got eyes on the money and then it was time to make the arrests. Never did I imagine that I would fake-arrest Lucy but here we are.

'Hey Luce, you did good.'

A few weeks later Lucy gratuated and never had to ride with me again. And I missed her, but soon enough her life was very busy with undercover work. She had to go back under as Nova Lin. She managed to catch La Fiera and Salonga at the same time, which is quite impressive as a first real undercover case. Triumph suits her.

It's Angela's wedding and Lucy just looks stunning in that green dress.

"Hey. Nice suit. Nova would be impressed."

"Nova was a little thirsty."

"I like to think of her as assertive."

"irst solo op, and you take down two major drug traffickers. Not bad." But then, unfortunately, our conversation had to stop as 'Man of Honour' duties call. I'd like to keep talking to her. "Hey Chen, save me a dance."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
That dance never came, since Lopez got kidnapped by La Fiera, who escaped about half an hour before the kidnapping. And unfortunately, Jackson West, Angela's rookie and Lucy's best friend, was a casualty. I will never forget the look on Lucy's face when she saw the gun in his back...
We did everything we could that night to find Angela and catch Jackson's killer. But with no links, tips or anything else, we couldn't do much more. Not to mention that it was already 10 pm. If we wanted to catch the bad guys we had to do it on a good night sleep, right?
Lucy shouldn't go home though. She shouldn't be alone right now. Without her roommate, her best friend. It was wrong.
"I can't go back to the apartment -- his empty room..." Lucy said. The griefing look never leaving her face.
It will take awhile until she smiles again. This is yet another trauma she has to face. It feels like she had a dozen trauma's since she joined two years ago...
"You don't have to. You can stay with me." And that I meant, as long as she wants.
"I don't want to impose." She won't. And she can't be alone. Not tonight.
"No, Lucy, you shouldn't be alone right now."
"Thanks, how fo you think Wesley is holding up?" I have no idea what it would feel like if the love of my life and baby got kidnapped on our wedding day.
Lucy's POV:
Here I am again, back at Tim's house. Not in a way that I wanted but it'll have to do.
I just can't believe Jackson's gone. My best friend. Does Angela know he's gone?
I just... I'm thankful that Tim wouldn't let me go home. I don't think I could be alone right now. All I want is to hug him. Jackson, not Tim. I mean, I want that too but. I would murder someone just to hear his laugh again.
Tim is getting the couch ready, for someone to sleep on. I don't think I'll sleep a lot, but here we are.
"I'll take the couch."
"Wait, I thought you were setting that up for me."
"I'm not gonna have a guest sleep on the couch."
"And I'm not gonna kick you out of your own bed. Come on. Get up."
"Okay. Um... Do you need...anything?"
"The last 24 hours back."
"I'm afraid I don't have that power." No humans do, sadly enough. All I want is to get 5 more minutes with Jackson.
"A hug."
"Yeah, come here. It's going to be okay." It feels like an intimate sad hug. His smell is actually quite comforting right now. Atleast one thing is still the same.
Not even a minute later, he let go of me and went to bed.
I shouldn't just crawl into his bed next to him, should I? Just being able to hug another human being right now for more than a few seconds, would be awesome.
"Hey, can I just sleep next to you? I, it's, uh, if it's okay with you. I just, uh, really need to know I'm not really alone, I guess."
"If you want another hug, just ask for it. But sure, come on."
Everything will work out in the end.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

* 6 months later*

It did work out in the end. Angela was saved and had a baby boy, who she called Jackson. La Fiera is dead and well, Tim and I are in a weird phase. I love him. I am in love with him, but he just doesn't know yet and, it would be weird to just tell him. After everything.

I think I'd rather be just friends, like best friends, with him than lose him because I have feelings and he doesn't. But we have an understanding with each other. I think?

When I think of Jackson these days I mostly think of good memories. But then I remember I'll never be able to tell him that I love Tim.

Tamara has moved in into Jackson's room and she's starting to see Tim as a dad, which is why she'll be showing us her new car today. Hopefully without any problems...
