It was a cloudy day in England as 23-year-old Rory sat in a chair just outside of a local cafe. The aroma of brewed coffee beans wafted through the windows of the shop, fuming the block with fresh coffee. Rory's hair had grown past her shoulder in layers and she no longer had highlight, a new hairstyle she had begun to stick with in her early 20s.
She spotted a familiar person walking from across the street, his fluffy brown hair tousled in the wind, her favorite feature that she would recognize anywhere. Additionally, he now wore glasses and had an earring on his left ear.
"Ajax!!" Rory called.
"Oh my god, Rory!" Ajax walked over to give her a massive hug
"Oh my, it's been almost 5 fives, how are you?"
"I've been good. I'm actually here for a psychology exchange program at UCL for grad school. What about you?
"That's really cool, congrats on your success! I'm actually here on an internship in criminal psychology."
Rory and Ajax continued to catch up and drink their coffees for the next hour. Both learning so many new things about each other. The time they spent apart was nothing, there had always been a spark, and the way they connected was natural and easy.
They decided to exchange phone numbers and added each other on social media.
When they were about to leave the coffee shop, a boy tripped on some scattered pebbles beside where Rory was sitting. She immediately bent down to help him up. But she quickly realized that the boy was oddly familiar...
His face was a duplicate of Rory's. She was shocked and stumbled backward, what was going on? Did she have a secret brother, and why was he in England of all places?
A man strolled up from behind. "I am so sorry ma'am, my son tends to be clumsy. I hope he didn't trouble you." Said a familiar voice.
Rory's heartbeat intensified as she turned around to face the reunion she had been dreading for the past 5 years.
The recognizable sharp nose, horn-rimmed glasses, and jade green eyes. A combo of terror that haunted her past.
It was Mr. Volkov. Chrome was back.
