Just as he was sure Y/n was stomaching her medicine and water he made sure she was in her duvet ready to sleep before leaving the room.

However, just as he was reaching the door a bright light flashed through her window, illuminating her now fearful face. Before she could utter a word the loud cracking sound of thunder cascaded over the mansion.

Swallowing her drunken pride she reached out to Masky. "Don't leave me alone...please." she uttered out as the rain began to subtly pour in. Looking over he gave her a puzzled look, "It's just a thunderstorm, what do you need me for?" "...I'm scared."

Sighing he shut the door before walking to her bed. Kneeling down to her level he spoke, " You've been here over a year now, I've never seen you have an issue with this before." "I guess I'm better at hiding things when I'm sober huh?"

"I guess you are."

"Just wait one moment." Masky spoke before leaving to his room. Y/n sat in her bed, holding blankets over her head and ears in attempt to muffle the loud smacks of thunder. Masky strode into his room, changing into his pyjamas before leaving his room in a huff.

Hoodie left Toby's room after finally settling him down. He watched as Masky walked back to Y/n's almost in a rushed manner. Hoodie gave him a puzzled look, "Thunder." is all Masky said in response, earning even more confusion as he shut her door behind him.

Looking over to the girl he observed her behaviour, almost shocked that she was even this scared. Sighing he sat next to her, patting her head. "Come on move over im taking the left side." "But thats where I usually sleep!" she whined still intoxicated from the night.

"That's too damn bad, do you want me to stay or not?" he said crossing his arms. Y/n opened her mouth to speak, however, nothing came out as she just scooted to the right side of her mattress. "Good." he huffed out before situating himself.

Glancing over at the girl, he caught her staring. Growing an irritated expression he spoke, "Take a picture it'll last longer." "Sorry, I just didn't think you slept with your mask on..." she mumbled. "I don't, I'm just keeping it on till I kill the lights." "Then turn them off!" she exclaimed.

Cocking an eyebrow he questioned her, "Why do you want it off so bad? You wont see anything." she only laughed lightly in response while she schemed to herself. "Fucking drunk weirdo." he whispered before she laid her head down, still mostly under the blankets.

Soon he turned, flipping her lamp's switch to off. Y/n listened, soon hearing the light sound of plastic hitting her nightstand. His mask was off. Before she could get a good look at his silhouette, another whip of lightning illuminated her room.

Even though she was prepared for another boom of thunder she couldn't help but stare in awe at the man in front of her. The flashes of light just barely dusted his face, revealing his chocolatey brown eyes and strong brows. His nose was angular and pulled his cheeks and mouth together. What surprised her the most was the clean shaven face he had, even though he had very full dark sideburns.

However her staring was met with a hand in front of her. Lightly grabbing her chin and cheeks again like he had before, he tilted her head away. "Quit staring creep, I feel your eyes burning into me." he mumbled before letting go. "Sorry." she whispered before looking at the ceiling.

Another loud crash sent her scooting closer, she turned away from the window near her bed, facing Masky once more. "Quit moving you're gonna push me off the bed." he scolded. "I'm sorry, just–I don't even know. Promise me I'm safe?" she asked, almost tearing up as the window lit up once more.

Looking down at her he watched as pools of crystal formed in her eyes, almost making her e/c pop with shimmer. God he loved those tears. Rolling his eyes he put one arm over her before holding her closer. "Whatever." he mumbled before closing his eyes.

"What did you even do when there were storms before this?" Masky egged on. "...I'd ask Jane to come sleepover with me or I don't know sometimes hide in my closet..." she uttered out. "That's fucking sad." "YOU ASKED!" she whisper yelled while smacking his chest.

"Well what about on our missions?" "What's with the interrogation?" she asked annoyed. He groaned, "I just never would have thought you'd be scared of something so stupid." "It's not stupid, I just don't have a good history with storms before boss had found me in the woods." she scowled at him.

Hearing those words immediately suggested he not press anymore than he already had. Letting the subject go he only held her tighter as the harsh wind and rain pounded on the side of the mansion.

The girl sunk deeper into his embrace, flinching every so often at the more louder waves of the storm. He was warm, and his scent was so inviting. The same mixture as his jacket, except now he had a hint of sweetness. Masky laid his chin on top of her head before drifting into his own thoughts.

Y/n closed her eyes reluctantly, slowly listening to the rhythm of his heart. It had originally been quite fast, almost so that she was about to ask him about it. However, the pace began to slow and even out as did his breaths.

Moving closer in his embrace she began to count each pump of his heart until she felt herself doze off. Masky sighed as he held the girl close, his mind was racing. What the hell was wrong with him, he wanted to keep his distance.

From the moment he had been introduced to her as a new proxy he couldn't help but feel his heart race whenever she gazed in his direction. He wasn't an idiot when it came to his own emotions he knew what it was like to have silly "crushes" before he had become a proxy.

He just didn't understand why it hasn't faded by now, he tried everything in his power to get her to ignore him. He had tried so hard to make her hate him, he wanted her to hate him. If she kept her distance and continued to hate him maybe his feeling would fade away.

But why haven't they?

Scrunching his face out of frustration he glared out the window. No matter how hard he tried he still always felt something for her. After Y/n had almost been caught by the cops in the beginning of the year he felt as though he had to be protective of her, the frat party mission even heightened this feeling.

He longed for her under his touch even more as days passed by. She grew more comfortable with him the more he let his guard down and he was growing irritated, so much so that he took it out on her neck.

Feeling her warm breath hit his chest made him shiver, he didn't know what to think in that moment or do. All he knew was over the past year or so he had been fighting against these feelings and her.

It wasn't even like the boss had said anything, people in the mansion have dated amongst themselves plenty of times. It never really affected anyone or anything, as long as it never affected proxy work Slenderman couldn't care less. Toby had even dated Clockwork a few years back before she had come out as lesbian, to which Toby was her number one supporter.

Squeezing his eyes shut he only held her as he listend to the sound of the rain which had begun to calm as the minutes passed. It was now at a steady consistent droplet pattern. The light tapping on her window now filtered into his mind as white noise. Taking his head off of hers he peered down at the sleeping girl.

"What am I to ever do with you?" he whispered before attempting to sleep once more.
