Hayden. He didn't have his sunglasses on. His eyes were hazel, and his face was in a grin.
A grin. How strange. He has never grinned at me until now.
"Hey, Steve!" Hayden said.
"Hi Hayden," I said.
"Come on inside!" he said.
I walked inside the house. It was a nice house, but not like Paige's. I took off my shoes.
"So, what do you want to do first?" Hayden asked.
"What do you want to do?" I asked him.
"Whatever you want."
"But I want to do what you want to do."
"Fine... do you want to play Minecraft?"
"Minecraft?" I echoed. I still feel a bit hesitant about playing that game.
"Is that all right?" Hayden asked. "I mean, if it isn't, we can do something else."
"It's fine," I said. "I like Minecraft."
And I did. But my brother... That sent chills up my spine.
"Let's go up to my room," he said.
We walked up the stairs to Hayden's room. We walked down a narrow hallway, and Hayden opened the door for me to his room.
Hayden walked over to his desk and started up his laptop. He pulled up Minecraft. He clicked on Singleplayer, and a bunch of worlds came up. He scrolled to the very bottom of the worlds.
"I always wondered what was in this world," Hayden said.
The world's name was unknown.
"This world came with Minecraft when I got my laptop," he said. "My parents got my laptop at a garage sale where I used to live. It had Minecraft on it. I made a account, but never played the world."
"Let's try it out," I said. "You never know what might be on there."
"Yeah," Hayden said. "You're right. Let's do it."
He selected the world, and the terrain loaded. It was daytime. Hayden stepped out of his chair.
"You can control it," he said.
"Thanks," I said.
I stared down at the keys.
"How do you control it?" I asked.
"You use W to move forward, A to go left, D to move right, and S to go backward," Hayden said.
"Okay," I said.
I did so, and I moved around just fine. I moved the character through the woods, and swam through water.
"How do you build?" I asked Hayden.
"You first have to gather materials," Hayden said. "Try punching a tree."
I held down the clicker for the mouse and the wood fell out. I kept doing it, and I had lots of wood on my hands. I started building wood around me for shelter.
"Do you want to see my skin?" Hayden suddenly said.
"Sure!" I said. I was very curious to know.
"Click F5." he said.
I hit the button, and my heart stopped. Herobrine was staring straight at me. Fear pulsed through my body. I jumped out of my seat, and quickly exited out of Minecraft.
"What was that for?" Hayden asked.
"I don't really want to play this game anymore," I said.
"Okay," he said. "Do you want to watch funny videos?"
"Sure," I said.
That will help. Hayden took over the computer and went to Youtube. He typed down, Nyan Cat.
What's Nyan Cat? I thought.
Hayden pulled up the video. I looked at the screen. Music came on, and then a rainbow poptart cat that was flying through space starting singing.
"Meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow ..."
I doubled over on the ground laughing.
"What the heck is that?" I choked out.
"It's the Nyan Cat," Hayden said.
The Nyan Cat kept meowing.
"When does it stop?" I asked, still laughing.
"A few more minutes," Hayden said smiling.
We watched hilarious videos until Hayden's mom called us down for dinner.
••••••••••••••
Walking downstairs to the basement to sleep, Hayden and I were cracking up. We were so tired we found everything funny. I set down my sleeping bag and collapsed on it.
"Hayden, I think I'm going to call it a night," I said. It was 3 in the morning, after all.
"Alright, goodnight Steve," Hayden said. He laid himself down.
It took me 30 seconds to go to sleep.
