AZARIAH POV

There was a frenzy feeling at the pit of my stomach. I was excited for my first date with Tyler. It was my first time in that neighborhood and I had gotten lost trying to find the restaurant which he had selected. I felt like I was going round in circles but fortunately, after asking a few people for directions, I finally found it; El Juan Pizzeria.

It had a cottage- like setting with a concrete footpath leading inside sandwiched by a pond. Dark creepers ran the walls of the building in a set of convoluted patterns. I walked into the brasserie. It had a warm snug feeling to it. The atmosphere was electrifying; with a sense of camaraderie and relaxation. There wasn't a hive of activity going on considering there were only a few people in the restaurant. I groped my coat as I looked for Tyler. He was seated at the back of the café seemingly in deep thought.

I walked up to the table where he greeted me with a warm smile before I settled down. "This place is nice," I smiled. "Yeah. I discovered this area about a year ago. It's basically just a stretch with many small individual restaurants and coffee bars. I mean you can find anything and everything here," he enlightened. "I noticed," I said with a smile. "From bona-fide Chinese to French, Italian and even African food," he continued. "Wow! That is amazing. You made a good choice, I like open spaced places like this as compared to all these 4 class restaurants," I said in astonishment. I was expecting some lavish high class restaurant where the prices of food are exorbitant and damn right ridiculous. Where they serve a decorated plate containing little cubes of some unknown special with leaves and herbs at the top. Honestly, it's just a waste.

The place wasn't much but it was pacific and serene. I was impressed. It wasn't radical it was romantic. He was a thoughtful guy and that warmed my heart. "You look stunning Azariah," he said in a deep voice as his eyes bore into mine. "Please, call me Rhee, "I told him. He chuckled, "I like Rhee better." "Everyone does," I muttered. A tall high spirited woman came over to our table and placed a menu in front of Tyler and I. She had on dark eye liner and I noticed her hair was very tangled; evidence that she had left the house in a hurry. There was an odd lightness about her eyes. A hint of danger and mystery. She smiled exposing three dimples on either side of her pale cheeks, "Hello. I'm Salma. I'll be serving you today. May I take your order?" I sighed as I looked at the menu. It was written in Italian.

I scratched my head and looked at Tyler confusedly. As if he sensed my tentativity, he looked up at the waitress who was seemingly getting impatient and said, "We'll have two large bowls of pasta e fagioli and pizza ai Quattro formaggi." She wrote down the order on her notepad, "Drinks?" "2007 Dal Forno, Valpolicella," Tyler said so casually as if he did not just order a 200 dollar bottle of wine. As if he could read my thoughts, he smiled and his eyes full of sincerity said it all, "I want you to feel special Rhee. The cost isn't a big deal. Just as long as you're having a good time." I blushed, this guy really had his way with words. He knew his way around a girl's heart. "So tell me about yourself Rhee. I mean officially. That day at Hazard we were both so tipsy it's only fair if we go at it again," he asked just as our food was served.

He told me about his travels to Europe and Middle East and I told him about my professional work; mostly interesting cases that I had worked on in the past. The food was sumptuous and I must say, the night progressed very well. We made plans for a second date and I went back home with a blissful smile on my lips which I couldn't get off my face no matter how hard I tried.
