Maid: Curfew At Daylight
I stared at the sheet in my hand, the cursive writing amused me but the contents made my brows furrowed. It was like I was looking at an alien when in fact I'm just looking at my schedule for my new work.
"This is weird." I mumbled to myself, scanning the numbers and letters on each paragraph.
Curfew:
5:00 a.m — 6:00 p.mWorking time:
6:30 p.m — 4:30 a.mThese two phrases caught my attention. Has there been a mistake?, But it seems like the writer is very careful while writing my schedule. I could tell by each stroke of the letter, but how come my curfew is daylight and not night time?, And why is my work time at night?
How strange. Very strange. But this job pays a large sum of money, which makes it even weirder! I mean, who pays a large sum of money to a maid?, 30,000 each week!?
But who am I to complain when I'm in desperate need of money right now?, My mother needs money, my siblings need money, and I'm their only hope as the eldest daughter.
A black limousine stopped in front of me, A tall man with a lean figure stepped out of the car. He was wearing a cap that covered his eyes, all I can see is his aristocratic nose, thin lips, and defined jaw. I assume he is the personal driver of the Sovran family.
He didn't speak, no greetings and exchange of pleasentries, just complete silence between us as he helped me with my luggage. We were silent the whole ride, I wanted to start a conversation but I don't think he likes noises when driving so I just leaned on the window and watched the scenery outside.
It was seven when you arrived at the mansion, he went inside first with my luggage. I stepped inside and looked around the place.
Casa la Sovran.
The rusted gate of the mansion was the first thing I saw when I turned around, dried leaves, and twigs all over the front yard made my nose crinkled. It wasn't completely dark, the lamps outside are on so I could clearly see the old and dusty mansion of the Sovran family.
This mansion could really use some cleaning.
The door creaked open, I looked at the man, he didn't speak but he made a gesture that I should go inside. I immediately obliged, I went inside the dimly lit mansion, my eyebrows furrowed while looking at the dusty furniture and floor. Oh gosh, I could even smell the dust! The man led me to where my room is and left me without a word.
I could only look at the closed door of my room. Okay, he is handsome but he's like, rude? And very weird.
I turned on the lights and arranged my clothes on the cabinet, the room is quite spacious for a maid like me to sleep in, but it's better than sleeping outside with their dog.
I heard the door creaking open, I looked behind me and saw an eyeball peeping on the small space in between the door and the wall. It wasn't blinking, it didn't even move an inch. My body trembled in fear but I managed to speak to the person behind the shadows.
"Excuse me, C-can I do something for you?"
He didn't speak but he slid an envelope on the floor, his pale fingers with long nails caught my attention. I gulped and looked at him again, he slowly closed the door without breaking his eye contact with me, I flinched at the soft thud.
My curiosity made me run towards the door and abruptly opened it to see who that person was but the moment I opened the door and looked outside, the door at the end of the hall closed with a loud thud.
