30 Minutes Earlier
Claire's POV
"We've got unfinished business."
I roll my eyes. "What are you talking about?"
"Don't waste my fucking time!"
"Bring me the Pendant or Sherry dies!"
I look at the pendant in my hands. "The pendant? What do you need it for?"
"Do you want the girl to die?"
"Fine. Where are you?" Yes, I was quite...annoyed.
"The orphanage."
I grew curious as I grew up there. Why would he have been there? "The orphanage? where's that?"
"In the neighbor hood. You'll find it."
"Is Sherry alright?"
"For now."
"I swear, you bastard. if you hurt her!" I didn't even get to finish before the line went dead. Looking up at the camera, I give it the finger, giving a silent damnit.
Rushing to the other side of the building to the showers, I find a portable safe just inside one of the locked rooms. Going back into the hallway, I look both ways for my hunter.
Not long after leaving the room did I hear his steady footsteps. Upon enter the S.T.A.R.S. office and had the card cleared for use, I heard them stop just outside the door. Breathing a sigh of relief, I walk over to the computer and use the USB to unlock the armory. Inside was an smg as well as letters to the members of S.T.A.R.S.
"To my bestest S.T.A.R.S. Buds, How are you doing in that drab, old station? Hanging in there against old Irons? Me? I just got back from a date with a hot chick. Bet you can guess what we got up to under the extra large umbrella. Europe is amazing. One month is in no way enough to even scratch the surface. Maybe I'll extend my vacation another six months. Barry, don't even think of coming to join me. Wouldn't want to make all the cute girls cry., yeah? So you just leave all the babes to me. Jill, if Claire tries to contact you, please let her know that I'm okay. Chris Redfield, August 29."
I smile for a moment before realize something very important. Whomever wrote that wasn't Chris. He wasn't that kind of person. I open the portable safe then and there, finding a spare part for something, not sure what though. Turning to the console, I find the missing key spot. With a smile, I fix the machine and input the code. Opening one of the lockers I combine it with my knife before moving to one of the other locker and grabbing a hip-pouch before running back into the hallway with the grey man behind me.
Running into a room on the other side of the building, I pick up a flashbang and run through the next door. Racing back to the garage, I find myself taking the elevator going down. Breathing of relief, I watch the grey man stop and turn around. Feeling a sense of pride, I smile.
I rush into a nearby complex and unlock a room filled with lockers, grabbing some herbs and a thing of roll film before making my way back to the garage and using the key to unlock the shutter. Heavy footsteps grow closer and closer before they suddenly stop. I slowly turn my head to see the grey man.
"You again?"
He smiles innocently as he stands there menacingly. I slowly back away as it makes much smaller steps than it had been earlier toward. I try my best to stay calm. Walking backwards, I nearly fall on my ass before I manage to regain my footing and breath. W-Why was it still standing there? It's...It's toying with me...letting me run so that it can catch up effortlessly.
