Megatronus awoke on a medical slab. The wound in his side throbbed but it was welded closed. He looked around. He saw Ratchet and Orion. The blue femme from earlier. The other tiny creatures with strange heat signatures. Other mechs. He did not stand but swing his legs around so he could simply sit and face them.
"I'm sure you've got a lot of questions, huh?"
He said. Probably not the best time for lightheartedness but he really didn't want to come off as a threat or evil. Like how Gigawatt made him.
"Understatement of the year,"
One of the tiny creatures said. It had many colours, much more than the others. Its companions nudged it, trying to silence it. It only looked annoyed now. Megatronus looked back at Orion.
"To make it astronomically clear, I am not the person you think has started this war. My name is Megatronus and I never knew Gigawatt would do something like this. Gigawatt is the Mech who calls himself me. Or Megatron i suppose. It's a good shortening of the name but I suppose I shouldn't do that now huh?"
There was silence. Right, not the time for lightheartedness. He continued.
"Gigawatt and I were neighbours and were born from the same cluster. We both had the same ideals that the caste system was flawed and slaves like ourselves deserved to be treated fairly. One day we heard rumours of the gladiator pits and thought it would be a good idea to earn a name for ourselves within. If we could prove our worth we could get people to hear us. Hear the voices of our nameless fallen brothers and sisters,"
Megatronus had to pause. He put his hand to his head.
"I succeeded in claiming a name for myself. A name given to me by the crowd. Gigawatt did not. He couldn't rise to where I had. Do not get me wrong, the glitch could fight and still clearly can,"
He put his hand to his wound for emphasis.
"But I preached a new way where violence could end. For everyone. Where things could be safe and we wouldn't have to do this. People surprisingly listened to me. So I thought Gigawatt and I could work together. But his ideas... they were different now. He wanted more.. power and influence. Every time we spoke it was always about primes or high status powers that we could claw and kill our way to. That's not what I fought for. That's not what I wanted,"
He stopped again, shivering at the memories that flooded back.
"He drugged me. The day he took my following and went to the council to preach himself as a prime. He kept me paralyzed in his chamber but he kept me alive. I was a bargaining tool for..."
He knew they must be tired of his pausing but it hurt. It hurt so much. He missed him so much. By Primus how this must've hurt him. Soundwave.
"Soundwave knew what happened to me but I was too weak to truly defend. I was at the mercy of Gigawatt and he wouldn't risk me dying to stop him. When he claimed Kaon as his capital, he hid me away in the statue. The statues insides were designed to have a permanent contaminated needle in every joint. I couldn't free myself. If it wasn't for you and your mission,"
He pointed to the blue femme and the small, dull creature
"I would still be stuck in there,"
Again there was silence. Looks were exchanged. Then suddenly, Orion placed his hand on Megatronus' shoulder.
"I am sorry, old friend, for not noticing how drastic the change was. I am sorry I couldn't save you,"
Orions voice was deeper now too. All this time he's been growing up while Megatronus has been in and out of stasis within a statue.
"Don't be sorry. Now it's you're turn to fill me in on what I've missed, Orion,"
Orion's eyes flickered with something glittery.
"Orion isn't what I am called anymore my friend. A lot has happened since your capture,"
