As Selena held up her keys, her eyes filled with awe and excitement, knowing that she was about to embark on a new chapter of her life – moving into her own apartment, conveniently situated near her high school. As the morning sun illuminated her path to school, her friends Mira and Leon appeared by her side, their cheerful voices harmonizing a warm "Good Morning" as they walked together through the entrance.
Selena took a deep breath and began, "Hey, about tomorrow..."
Mira's exuberance cut her off mid-sentence, "He's here, excuse me," and the trio quickly changed course, following Mira's eager lead. Their attention was soon captured by a boy named Asher, who, like them, was of the same age. As Asher strolled down the pathway, a symphony of gasps and excited chatter rippled through the crowd of girls, all enamored by his presence.
Amidst the flurry of admiration, Mira exclaimed, "Asher, he's from the upper class, he's so cool."
Leon chimed in playfully, "Well, any cool guy like that is good enough for you, right?"
Selena's gaze remained fixed on Asher. "He's so cool," Mira said, "just looking at him gives me a surge of determination."
Suddenly, a group of girls sprinted towards Asher, their voices calling out his name in unison. He turned to acknowledge them, his eyes meeting theirs as he listened attentively. Among the girls, one extended an invitation, her hands held high with a festive card, "Would you like to join our Christmas party as a special guest? This is an invitation."
Asher's response was as unexpected as it was resolute. "I don't want it," he declared, and without further ado, he turned away and continued on his path, leaving behind a trail of bewilderment and chatter among the girls.
As the three girls approached the group that had just invited Asher, a tense atmosphere settled around them. Jess, the girl with glasses, didn't hold back her disapproval, confronting the one who had offered the invitation. "You must have a death wish by breaking the 'Top Three' rules like that," she sternly remarked.
May, with long wavy hair, chimed in, her voice filled with indignation, "The Top Three boys are for everyone. It's unforgivable for you, especially when you're a freshman."
Jae, with curly hair and bangs, attempted to diffuse the situation, suggesting a more measured approach. "Let's discuss things slowly," she implored, hoping to avoid any unnecessary conflict.
But Jess remained resolute, insisting on enforcing the rules. "You must be taught the rules properly," she asserted, and together, the three girls took hold of the one who had extended the invitation and began to lead her away, presumably to address the transgression.
As they moved away from the crowd, the conversation continued, voices growing hushed as they delved into the seriousness of breaking the established norms. The situation hung in the air, leaving the onlookers in a mix of curiosity and concern, wondering about the consequences that awaited the girl who had dared to extend the invitation to Asher.
Selena was in the bathroom when her phone rang, her mom's call piercing through the ambient noise. "Wait, hang on," she requested, hastily opening the bathroom stall. While washing her hands, she juggled the call, stating, "Hello, hold on one second, hang on."
Exiting the bathroom, Selena ascended to the school rooftop to engage in the conversation in private. "What do you want, Mom?" she sighed, a hint of exasperation in her tone. "I told you I called them, no need to worry."
Her mother's concern was persistent. "Just make sure you do things properly. If anything happens, I'll come straightaway."
"I got it, okay? I have to go," Selena responded briskly before ending the call.
