Chapter 24 : Date Day

The amusement park was alive with colorful lights and the excited chatter of visitors. Selena, Conner, and Jasmine stood before the entrance to the haunted house, anticipation building in the air. Jasmine's determined expression remained unchanged, and she turned to Conner with a challenge in her eyes.

"Are you finally convinced that you and Selena are really a couple?" Jasmine asked, a hint of skepticism in her tone.

Conner chuckled nervously, glancing at Selena before turning back to Jasmine. "I've told you, Jasmine, Selena and I are together. There's no need for a haunted house test."

Jasmine crossed her arms, unconvinced. "Well, just to be sure, let's go inside together. If you can make it through the haunted house without breaking a sweat, then maybe I'll believe you."

Selena exchanged an amused glance with Conner before they both nodded. "Sure, why not?"

As they entered the dark and eerie interior of the haunted house, Selena couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement mixed with apprehension. The air was thick with tension, and the trio walked cautiously through the winding paths, their footsteps echoing in the darkness.

However, Selena's slow pace soon caused her to lag behind. The darkness seemed to press in on her, and every creak and whisper of the haunted house played tricks on her mind. She felt a shiver run down her spine as her imagination began to run wild.

"Mari...?" Selena's voice trembled as she called out, her voice echoing eerily in the empty space.

Mari and the others were inside the haunted house too, but Selena was too disoriented to know that. Tears welled up in her eyes as her fear intensified, and she held a flashlight tightly, its beam of light barely penetrating the shadows.

Then, out of nowhere, a light pointed toward Selena, revealing a hand reaching out for her. Her heart raced, and she let out a scream as the hand made contact with her. But then, the light revealed Asher's face, and Selena's fear turned to shock.

"Asher?!" Selena gasped, her voice a mix of relief and surprise.

Asher's face was illuminated by the flashlight he held, and he looked at her with a mixture of concern and amusement. "You really have a knack for getting yourself into situations, don't you?"

Selena's fear gave way to frustration as she swatted his arm playfully. "You scared me half to death!"

He chuckled softly and pulled her into a hug. "Sorry about that. I heard you calling out and saw you were taking forever, so I thought I'd come check on you."

Selena relaxed into his embrace, feeling a sense of comfort wash over her. "Well, I'm glad you did. I was starting to feel like I was hallucinating."

As they made their way out of the haunted house, Selena and Asher found Mari and the others waiting outside. Jasmine's eyes widened when she saw Asher with Selena.

"Who's this?" Jasmine asked curiously.

Mari quickly stepped in to save the situation. "Oh, that's just Asher. He's a friend of ours."

Leon chimed in, adding, "Yeah, just a friend."

Jasmine seemed satisfied with the explanation, and Selena couldn't help but feel grateful for her friends' quick thinking. As they continued their evening at the amusement park, Selena's thoughts couldn't help but drift to the Ferris wheel with the see-through gondolas that Mari had mentioned earlier.

As they walked past the Ferris wheel, Selena couldn't resist picturing herself and Asher sitting in one of those gondolas, their fingers intertwined as they rose higher and higher into the sky. She wondered if they would ever get the chance to experience that together.
