These days, Sophia felt like she had a third roommate.
Her little sister.
Deals had been confirmed and the news had broken out: Clarissa Adams-Diaz would be joining Barcelona Femeni B for the 21/22 season. On loan, however with the option to extend permanently at the end of the season.
Sophia can tell, though, that that is a thing her younger sister prefers not to think about for the time being.
It turns out the La Masia boarding facility was hardly a ten minute drive from Sophia's flat. Thus, any time Clarissa didn't have taken up by training with her teammates, classes within the academy (since she still technically had a year left of school) or actually in games, the girl would spend at Sophia and Sira's flat.
"What's your roommate like, Clarissa?" asks Sira's mother, Elena. Elena, Lucho and Pacho were all around for dinner, and Sophia had picked up Clarissa from her dorm.
"She's nice," shrugs Clarissa, tearing apart a piece of garlic bread. "Her name's Gemma, we don't talk too much. She's 15 and plays for the under-16s team. I think because my transfer was so late they weren't able to match me up with someone of the same age. We don't talk much, but she seems OK."
"They're cool facilities, aren't they?" says Lucho. "The classrooms and the leisure area. The swimming pool looked fantastic too, though I never got to try it during my stint with Barca."
"You used to go to the academy as manager, Papá?" says Sira.
"Obviously," says Lucho. "I'd sneak up on the kids while they were playing table tennis. It was good fun."
"Those poor, traumatised children," Pacho sighs.
Lucho shrugs off his son's words. "They deal with worse things on the pitch."
Sira perks up at the remembrance of something. "Mama, Papa, how would you feel if I was to get a dog?"
"We'd be fine," says Elena. "Your landlord wouldn't."
"That's what I said!" Sophia exclaims emphatically, gesturing with her fork.
Sira sighs. "You're all boring. Ferran said it would be a good idea."
"Did he, aye?" The menacing look Sophia gave her roommate was enough for the latter to wish her death with her eyes.
"Ferran, hija?" Lucho looks at his daughter. "You two chat?"
"Just... er... a by-chance thing," says Sira. "We FaceTimed Kat and Ferran happened to be there."
Sophia raises an eyebrow.
