"I like your nose piercing," Jacob comments.
"Oh, thanks Jake," Y/n replies, looking up from her text conversation with Jungkook, who was making sure she had made it to school safely. When he compliments her silver nose ring she is reminded of the fond memory of why she had it. "My mom's totally pissed at me," Jungkook had said, confusing Y/n.
"Why? What did you do, Kookie?"
"This," he'd answered, moving his bangs out of his eyes to show her the little silver jewelry poking out of the tail of his eyebrow.
Y/n gasped when she saw it. "Oh my god, Jungkook, you got an eyebrow piercing?!"
He nodded sheepishly before grinning brightly. "What do you think of it, bunny?"
"I think it's cool! I've always wanted another piercing besides my ears..."
"Well, then we should get one!" He'd suggested.
"What?"
"Yeah. I want another one just to prove a point. I was thinking about getting a lip ring. How does that sound?"
"Kinda hot, to be honest. But won't that make Auntie mad?"
"Of course it will!" He'd rolled his eyes. "She didn't like the piercings and my tattoos because she says they make me look more 'emo' than I already do. And not very prince-like."
"But you're not emo, you're actually dead," Y/n pointed out.
"Undead," He'd corrected, "but I know, that's what I tried to tell her. But if you get one too she'll get off my back because she could never be mad at anything you do. What do you say?"
"Well, I've always kind of wanted a silver nose piercing. Maybe I'll get a nose ring?"
Jungkook smirked. "Sounds more than fine to me. It would suit you."
"Perfect. Then one hot girl nose ring, please."
"It suits you," Jacob says next, desperately attempting to get your attention onto him and not whoever you were texting on your phone.
"Oh, thank you! My best friend and I got piercings together, that's why I got one. It was a very spontaneous decision."
"A great spontaneous decision. Hey, who are you texting?"
"Just my friend," Y/n vaguely answers, more immersed in her text chat with Jungkook on KakaoTalk than the conversation Jacob was attempting to start. She barely knew him after all, and because of the soulmate bond, she was more interested in talking to Jungkook.
"How close of a friend are they?" He asks now, finally catching Y/n's attention.
"Huh?"
"How close of a friend are they? You seem to be a little lost." He chuckles. "Why don't you talk to me instead since I'm sitting right next to you?"
And as soon as he said that, right after as if a switch had been flipped and Y/n was in a trance that she couldn't shake off, she put her phone down and faced Jacob. "He's my best friend," she answers honestly. "We've been best friends since we were kids."
"What's his name?"
"Jungkook."
"Is he a good friend to you?"
"Yeah, he's my best friend for a reason." Y/n chuckled.
"Well, I'm still new here and looking for someone to hang out with..." Jacob prods. "Maybe sometime you'd wanna hang out with me and you can become my best friend?" He jokes.
"Uhm, I guess," Y/n answers awkwardly. The only males she hung around as close friends were really Jungkook, Taehyung, and Hoseok, as your father, Jungkook's and Taehyung's did not really count.
The point was, that she wasn't super comfortable with males she didn't even know, and considering what Seokjin said about watching who they trusted, she wasn't eager to become close with a random new student, especially if Jungkook was uncomfortable with it. Sure, he was especially uncomfortable because of his own little obsession with keeping his mate to himself, but still, Y/n cared about respecting his wishes, and if Jungkook was receiving genuinely questionable vibes from him, then there must be a reason.
"I would treat you like a queen, you know," Jacob says, confusing Y/n.
"What do you mean?"
Jacob shrugs. "If you and I became better friends and got to know one another, I would treat you like a queen. As well as Jungkook." Jacob seems overly confident in his statement, which confused Y/n.
"Uh...okay." The bell then rings signaling not only the end of class but the end of the school day as well.
The reason Jungkook had been texting so much was because he was unable to pick you up from school today since it was the day before Halloween, and he was swamped back at the palace preparing for the ceremonies the next day and trying to determine a way to solve their Asmodeus problem. However, Jungkook was also trying to figure out a way to eliminate this 'Jacob' guy, because although Y/n had listened to him and distanced herself from him recently, he was still attempting to grow closer to her, which didn't sit right with Jungkook. Obviously, he figured "Jake" just wouldn't give up, but maybe he needed to teach him a lesson and claim his mate now before something happened.
His twenty-first birthday was tomorrow, and he wanted to claim his mate (finally) before his coronation so that they could be sworn in together as he figured he would be king soon. But back to the topic of Jacob who was still shamelessly flirting with Y/n and attempting to gain her affections who wasn't exactly responding to it, even Y/n could tell that something was off. She knew deep down that her heart already belonged to Jungkook as it always had, and that even if she wouldn't admit it, one day, she was to marry him. (And she did want to eventually.)
"Do you want to maybe hang out today?" Jacob then asks, conflicting Y/n.
"Look, Jake, you seem really nice," she starts awkwardly, "but I really have to go. I have a lot of homework to do, and tomorrow is Jungkook's birthday, so I really have to get home. I'm sorry, maybe we can hang out another time?" She politely rejects, offering him a smile to let him down easily.
However, it appears that he does not appreciate her rejection, because he frowns, deeply furrowing his eyebrows. "No."
"I'm sorry, pardon?" She asks politely.
"I said no," he repeats himself, sorely confusing Y/n.
"I don't...I don't think I understand. Uhm, look, I really have to go home, my parents are waiting to take me to the doctor for an appointment," she lies. "Have a good night, okay? I'll see you in class tomorrow."
Jacob smirks as he begins to laugh. "You're lying to me." He tuts. "I really thought we could be honest with one another here."
"Excuse me?"
"I said that I know you're lying to me, and I don't understand why it didn't work on you, princess."
But before Y/n could even react, she was whisked away.
