everything turned out alright after all. the beaming spotlights shining their blinding rays onto the stage. cheers and applause erupted from the stunned crowd. with his drawn on mustache and smile strong enough to light up an entire room. aziraphale grabbed the jet black top hat from his head and took a bow.
he glanced to his side where his assistant stood, clapping his hands in a steady motion. his smile grew ten times bigger. they had managed to perform on the west end stage, in front of a crowd of people; and pulled it off. even with the miracle blocker keeping them from performing real magic, he did it.
they did it.
him and crowley took one last look at the crowd before disappearing backstage. aziraphale could hardly contain himself, the energy coursing through his veins was about to blow. once back in his dressing room, he shut the door before almost jumping with excitement.
"we did it, oh heavens we actually pulled it off!" aziraphale cheered, that big goofy smile still pasted on his face. crowley wanted to speak, but didn't want to ruin the angel's child like excitement.
so he cracked a small smile, and let the angel ramble about how he thought they were going to mess it up after the turnup incident. he pulled crowley into a tight hug, almost squeezing the life out of him.
"you were so good out there angel," he said. unable to do much else besides pat aziraphale's back and wait for this overwhelming burst of excitement to die down. the hug broke and they stayed in close proximity as the angel continued with his spiel. it was rare to see him this excited.
"we did it! we did it crowley. ah, i'm so excited i could just kiss you right now!" there was no kiss, and the angel played it off like he hadn't just asked to kiss his best friend. he cleared his throat,
"anyways, care for some celebratory wine?" aziraphale suggested, holding up a fancy bottle of red wine. "you know i do." crowley announced, and just like that, the night went on as normal. well as normal as it could get.
crowley was still hung up on that one particular statement. did it mean anything? was he really going to kiss him? but as the evening continued, aziraphale never brought the topic up, so crowley tried to ignore the questions flooding his mind. and focus on having a pleasant evening while getting drunk with his best friend.
"y'know you have nice eyes."
aziraphale said in his buzzed state. crowley couldn't help but scoff, he had never seen aziraphale so out of it before. his guess was the celebratory aspect got to him, and he ended up overdoing it with the wine.
"why thank you," he responded, taking another sip of the sweet maroon wine. "i knew you'd come through for me, you always do." the angel said through slurred speech. crowley hummed a yes while tapping his finger against the glass.
should he ask him about the kiss?
even if he did would aziraphale even remember it in the morning? in the end, he figured screw it, with how drunk the angel was, he probably wouldn't remember the awkward conversation anyways.
"hey angel, about that kiss.. were you kidding?" he asked, taking aziraphale by surprise. "well no, of course, i wasn't," he answered simply, sipping on his glass of wine. feeling the buzz start to take effect, crowley took a sharp inhale.
"is that offer still on the table?" crowley asked, the angel blinked a few times, like he was trying to process those few words. he sat up perfectly straight, turning his undevoted attention towards the demon across from him. "i suppose so." he replied, screwing his eyes shut and puckering his lips. "go on then,"
crowley took a moment to admire the view, the angel was so innocently oblivious; expecting just a peck on the lips. crowley chuckled before leaning across the table. resting his palm on the angel's cheek.
"y'know, you're adorable," he whispered before connecting their lips. aziraphale flinched on contact, feeling the warmth of another person's lips pressing against his own made him dizzy. a feverish warmth spread through his body; he liked it.
the feeling was comforting. he enjoyed the sensation of crowley's warm hand cupping his cheek, it almost radiated heat. he leaned into the touch, pressing his lips firmly against the demons across from him.
so when the warmth suddenly disappeared, a small whine accepted aziraphale's lonely lips. his eyes fluttered open, begging for the alluring sensation to return. craving the warmth like a drug.
"was that... good?" aziraphale asked, hoping he hadn't done something to mess it up. the demon tapped his glass with a devilish grin painted on his lips. "nah, not good enough, let's try again." he joked. once again connecting their needy lips, but this time was different.
a damp sensation dragged against his lower lip. never having kissed like this before, his mouth remained closed. but after being denied entry, crowley took a different approach, moving his foot up the angel's clothed leg. it didn't take long before his lips parted ways and allowed for the serpent's tongue to slip in.
the kiss was the farthest thing from elegant. but for his first time, crowley would say he was a natural. they sealed the night with a celebratory kiss, and the two couldn't be happier.
the evening passed, and before they knew it the morning sun had arisen. the aroma of wine flooded through the enclosed room. the angel groaned, his eyes wearily opening as memories of last night's endeavors rushed into his head.
his lips ached, bright red and swollen from last night. he blinked a few times, seeing himself snuggling up against a sleeping crowley.
what the hell happened last night?
