Chapter 39

Anastasia's Pov

" When I first find out about my mother, I was heartbroken. I felt helpless and hopeless. I used to always ask Moon goddess , why my mother was so cold to me? Why didn't I feel any connection with her? Then I used to make myself understand that it was not the case it is just that my mother loves Elena more. I kept yearning for my mother for my entire life. I thought things would change sooner or later but they didn't. I kept suffering Anastasia!! I should have known, that woman could never love anyone. She just sympathizes with my dad because even she had lost her mate when she was young, that's it. Two people with same backstory just trying to mend their lives."

" Rayan please calm down. I know the things that you have been through are unbearable but is yelling and blaming the solution ? All this anger , all this frustration, where is it leading you ? Will you hating me bring back your mother ? Think about it Rayan, all the things that you have done to me were they worth it?"

" Emotional blackmailing huh ?? I see . Even if you are not to blame for my mother's death what about my dad ? I have seen it with my eyes, you tried to kill my dad my by inserting a silver knife in his body. You planned it so well- took him to a secluded area called the rouges , but unfortunately your plan failed because  my dad defeated all the rouges  so you took the matters in your own hand and..."

" No Rayan , you have got it all wrong ! I didn't plan anything, neither did I call the rouges. The rouges sensed us there and felt threatened by us and decided to attack. Stop blaming me for everything !!"

" You can deny all you want but, this pack has strict punishments for criminals."

" Rayan I haven't done-"

" Stop and listen to your punishment.  Don't make it worse ! You will be whipped  publicly with rope covered with wolfsbane. The number of lashes will 100 and you will be punished tomorrow. If you survive this, then you will be demoted to the rank of rouge and will serve this pack until your last breath. "

No !! This is worse that death. I don't want  a life full of humiliation especially for the crime that I have not committed. I decided to argue but a pack warrior came in and said

" Alpha  we need to do something, Alpha Jacob is at the pack borders again and he is creating a ruckus. He demands to see his sister."

" Uhh !! When will my problems end ??  This brother - sister have became a everyday headache. Let's go." and he left.

" Alpha Jacob ? Ana you remember how excited we were for his Alpha announcement ceremony?"

" Yes Nasia, looks like the ceremony is over.......without us. You remember he had called us and invited us while we were here ?"

" Of course I even promised to be there. How could we miss it?"

" We didn't catch a break from all these problems and now we are about to loose our life. I am sorry Nasia but even if I heal you quickly we won't be able to take 100 lashes." 

"I know Ana,  even if we survive , what are we going to get ?Slow death ? Let's just go to Moon goddess , looks like she is waiting for us ."

She just hummed in response.

We talked to each other for a while, we shared our memories together, the things we had planned for future, my dream to be the ' HOD' of a college, my mischiefs with professor, the time I enjoyed vacation with my family and so much more.

" Nasia ?"

I looked in direction of that voice. " Trent ! Have you recovered ? I am so happy you are here. You know all of them have misunderstood me. I didn't kill the Alpha."

He was silent.

" What happened Trent ? Even you don't believe me?"

" I don't know, even if I choose not to believe Rayan, each every pack member narrates the same story. Are all of them lying ? I know you hate this pack but was this the solution?"

" Trent ." I whispered in shock. " I would never."

" I don't want to argue on what has happened , I am here to give you this." He held out  a vial. 

" What's in this ?"

" Rayan has announced in front the pack that he plans to punish you through whipping with wolfsbane, you will be lashed 100 times . This vial contains  a solution that will help your  wolf recover quickly . You won't survive without this."

" Why are you helping me ? You don't believe me ,don't you?"

" I don't believe." ouch, that hurt. " but I don't to know something in me tells me you are not at fault. I don't know why but I just can't accept the fact that you tried to kill someone especially Alpha .To know the truth I need time and it's only possible if you survive tomorrow's trial."

Should I be happy ?

" Thanks Trent please leave it here . I will take it."

" How ?"

" Just leave it. I'll manage." How do I tell you Trent that I don't want it and won't have it. I am done !

He sighed and left.

Tomorrow is going to awful day. I don't survive - I die. I survive - I die everyday !
