Evan's POV

So, here we are, only one day into the trip and we're lost.

"This is your fault," I say to Waeland, again.

"How many times are you gonna say that?!" He exaggerated as he threw his hands up in the air in defense. "All I did is walk off the trail a little bit, and somehow we got lost. Not my fault." Waeland pouted as he crossed his arms.

"Well for one, you told me you knew where you were going since you've been in these woods several times before. And-"

"Well, I'm rusty, I haven't been in these woods in a while," Waeland interrupted before I could even get to point two.

"Secondly, you didn't have to drag me with you, you should have gone and gotten lost by yourself. And if you didn't know where you were going, then you should have brought a map or something." I said with a sigh.

You know, I kind of regret thinking about only being around Waeland and not the others. I kind of brought this upon myself. Guess I got what I wanted... Just not exactly how I wanted.

"Yeah, cause they just have tons maps of these woods. But, seriously? You would want me to be all alone in this cold, dark, creepy forest?" Waeland asked looking at me with huge eyes like a wounded puppy.

I just rolled my eyes and shook my head.

"What about your phone? Is there a map on there?" I asked, hoping that we could find our way back that way.

"I left my phone at the house, what about your phone?" He asked and I pulled out my flip phone. Waeland cringed seeing the old phone and I sighed.

Flip phones aren't that old people.

"Can you call?" He asked, trying to recover from him cringing.

"No signal," I said and put the phone back in my pocket.

"Then we'll just keep searching for a path or for the rest of the group. We're bound to find one or the other, eventually." Waeland said with determination as he stood back up and I stayed seated. We've been walking for about an hour now. I'm not exactly the type of person that just walks around forever.

"Or, you know, we could just stay lost in these woods together. I'm sure we could find something to do." He said with a suggestive smirk as he crouched down in front of me. Which made me slowly inch back from him.

"I don't know what you're thinking, but, no thank you. I just want to rest and think for a moment." I told him and he sighed before sitting down again.

"Fine, you can be really boring sometimes, Evan," Waeland said as he shook his head.

"Thank you for finally noticing," I replied with a small glare.

"And feisty," he said with a smirk again and I just blinked at him. Every time I think he's actually being serious, he goes and turns it around.

I think he got my message to shut up though because he didn't say anything more after that.

We both sat in silence for what felt like a good five minutes before Waeland broke it.

"Why do you think people are scared of the woods?" He asked, looking at me with a fairly serious face. Huh, that's rare.

"I don't know, you tell me, since, you know, you think the forest is so creepy and all," I answered, making him pout, his serious face disappearing. That's more like it.

"Evan, I'm trying to be serious. Please, give me a serious answer." Waeland said. I looked him over a few times before deciding that he's really not messing with me.
