"Ah~, I do have to say. This is such...a...wonderfully...MANIACAL MEETING!" The king said, laughing even harder.
There was pure silence, for like...5 straight seconds of uninterrupted awkward silence. It was honestly painful. The second-hand embarrassment I got was enough to kill a guy, but it was the king, so these moments were probably common for him. Though I couldn't bear having to experience this almost every day, I feel bad.
For his servants, I mean."Do you guys not get it? Because I'm the king, and I'm a freakin' maniac! I guess not, huh?" The king pouted and crossed his arms, like a selfish little child. He continued his sentence with a loud announcement, "Okay! Lei wanted this kid, right? Why am I talking then? Shouldn't Lei be yapping his mouth to the darn kid?" The king said, leaning on his hand.
The guard hesitated to speak, getting caught in his words as he fidgeted with his fingers. Finally, Lei took a step forward, fully embracing the situation and the chance he was given to talk.
He chuckled, "I humbly apologize for...that misunderstanding. Now, if you do not want to talk, your Highness, I suggest you leave the throne room," To be honest, I was genuinely surprised by the gall my father had to talk to His Highness like that, I wish I could get some of that confidence. His Highness scoffed and stood up from his throne, leaving to the right side of the room. It was stressful to see him scoff, thinking, "He could command any of the scouts to behead me right now". The scouts on his side left reluctantly went with him as the scouts on the opposite side left, excluding Lei. He walked up to me patted my shoulder and smiled like he was proud of me for not accidentally laughing at His Highness.
"Stand up, no need to be kneeling down anymore. Guards, at ease. Please leave us alone for the time being and tend to your duties. Thank you," Lei said, offering his hand to me and giving the guard who was beside me a cold smile that was freezing enough to send shivers down anybody's spine.
The guard nodded and went away with a march.
"Thanks, my knees were killing me," I chuckled as I started to stand up.
I tried summoning my staff but it didn't work, sparks shot from my hand though the staff didn't appear.
"Magic is blocked through-out the castle to prevent any surprise attacks. Usually we have sensors to see when someone's trying to cast a spell, so try not to instinctively summon your staff. It might alert the guards." Lei said as he walked toward the exit of the throneroom which led to the garden.
I finally looked around my surroundings to see nobody except for my father and I. It was completely empty, I wondered if the throneroom was always this empty. Lei looked back at me as I started to follow him, he waved his arm as if to invite me to walk faster.
"The garden here is beautiful, you should see what it looks like. It has tons of flowers and stuff," Lei said as he opened the gigantic throneroom door with only one hand.
"What other things should a garden have except for flowers?" I sarcastically said, chuckling.
Yeah, that convinced me to shut up.
The immediate light on my face blurred my vision as I looked at the garden in sheer amazement. The beautiful synergy of the flowers as well as the enchanting smell made the view even better. Only a master Herbalist could have done this, that, or Hecate.
"Try not to touch the Venus Fly Traps, they eat humans rather than flies. Be careful with most of the plants here actually, a lot of them have poison. They're really damn pretty though," Lei said, simultaneously cutting down the plants coming after him as he walked through all of them. Leaving a nasty sight of dead plants and leaves.
