It's a bit...frustrating to get beaten up every day by a dude 3 inches shorter than you, younger than you, and most definitely better looking than you. It definitely kicks your self-esteem in the balls, you know?
A few weeks passed ever since the training started, I told Mildred everything except for the training, because she'd probably crash every session trying to get Yuan Fei to teach her stuff. Palade has been a bit distant though we still talk here and there. Now I was shopping in the city for Yuan Fei.
The shopping list was pretty basic like some flour, veggies, fruit, and sugar. While I was reciting the shopping list, some random person bumped my shoulder and dropped their stuff.
"Sorry, I should've looked," I said while picking their stuff up.
We locked eyes for a bit as I picked their stuff up. I was sure I'd seen her before... Jet-black eyes, small face, and long fluffy hair...all of these clues led to Hecate. Since I'm a magician nerd (and a Hecate aficionado), I could never mistake her for someone else. And also since I had a tiny...itty...bitty...gigantic crush on her.
"Oh no, no, no, it's my bad," Her voice immediately checked all the boxes that were left. I've listened to her voice so closely when she did her comedy shows, it was a staple of my life. And also she sounds like a chipmunk, which sounds cute.
"Have we met before?" I asked while studying her movements to put the nail in the coffin.
She hesitated to answer, looking away, then back, away, then back. Her mouth was open but no words were coming out, all I could hear from her was a singular "Uh". Her movements were similar to a nervous animal, it looked like she was looking around her surroundings. It was strange.
"W-well, n-no...not that I know of.," She said, obviously hiding something.
I stood up after picking her stuff up, and as soon as I looked up at her, she vanished.
Strange, I thought...why would one of my idols bump into my shoulder, hide their identity, and just vanish? If it was a plan to confuse the heck out of me, it sure worked. I tried looking for her but it was useless, I couldn't find her anywhere.
"I'm back," I said, walking into the gigantic mansion that Yuan Fei calls a house.
As usual, there was nobody in the house except for his maids. I sighed and then went deeper into the mansion.
Oh yeah, have I told you that I'm living with Yuan Fei now? My house back in "The Adventure City" was pretty fucked up and Yuan Fei offered to let me live with him for now. It was pretty obvious what choice I should have made, so I took the offer. It's pretty obvious that I'm not used to this lifestyle, whenever the maids did something for me, I just felt bad. I wanted to stop them from doing their job and take over, for whatever reason I had.
The eldest of the three maids was Melda who was a wise calm and kind-hearted old lady, then Aradel, the clever brunette with a fun spirit who was half Melda's age, and then finally, Shade.
She was the same age as Yuan Fei, but she was the polar opposite. She had messy and unkempt hair, and she was unusually silent. She'd quietly just read in the library while the other maids were doing the chores. She was quite strange, just to say.
Walking through a house this big was very unnerving the first time I entered, but you get used to it after a few weeks. There were paintings of Yuan Fei as a baby and a blonde woman right beside him. His mom, I guessed. The resemblance was pretty obvious, his and her blonde hair were flags, like a sign written with "We're related" on it.
There was a figure of a man in the paintings, but his face was always blotted. Bad father, maybe? I could only guess. I walked to the dining hall and put the sack of groceries on the table to go after Yuan Fei, of course...the training ground.
