Today is the first day back to school. Finally in junior year. One more year and I will be gone from this house and this town. I can't fucking wait.
I was getting ready when one of my brothers, Chase, told me our parents want us all in the living room to announce something.
I have 6 brothers. One worse than the other. Eli is the oldest. He is in his third year of college. The second oldest, Jason, is in his first year because after graduating he wanted to take a gap year before going off to college. And then there are the twins, Chase and Nate. They are a year older than me. And then there are the triplets which include Dean, Cade and me.
Yeah, I know a very big family. You are probably wondering how did our parents manage to raise all of us without difficulties. Well, it's pretty easy actually, we are rich so money was never a problem. But the lack of parent presence was. They traveled all the time and we were usually alone for a long period of time.
I made my way to the living room where my family was already here and sat between Dean and Cade. "Now that all of you are here, we would like to discuss something with you." Mom spoke first.
"We are going in a business meeting in France. There are some other things left unfinished so we don't know how long it'll take for us to be back home but it'll take longer than usual." Dad said casually like it was an everyday thing and to be honest it kinda was so I can't really blame him.
"In the meantime Eli will be responsible for you until we're back." Mom told us and Eli nodded. This just became worse. Now I feel even more angry that his and Jason's college is near our city.
"Wait, what? You can't leave me here with them and for an unknown period of time."
"It's not that we like being home alone with you sis." Chase said annoyed at my tantrum. "Well, for once we agree in one thing" and with that I turned my back at him.
"Mom, please you can't leave me with them. Dad say something." I pleaded with them. "Sweetheart it'll be okay. Don't be dramatic." Mom said in her famous stoic look. I was stupid if I thought they would take my feelings into account. They never did anyway.
"Oh, and I forgot to mention something. Serena you're going to the same school as the boys while we're away." Dad shocked me.
"What?! No! You can't do this to me. It's not fair." I was fuming. They couldn't do this to me. After everything I did to convince them they're just throwing my efforts out of the window.
"We have decided Serena. Don't waste your time." Mom said and after saying goodbye they left.
"Well, that was something. Can't wait to spend a whole school year with you sis." Nate said in sarcastic voice.
"Can't say the same asshole." I stared at him."Hey, language." Eli interrupted our staring session. Eli was always the responsible one. The one to look after his siblings. I always admired him for that and in the past I found comfort in him. But after what happened I have a difficult time looking at him.
In the last few years we hadn't had any interaction, only dinners with family but that's it. I distanced myself from him and I'd like for it to remain that way. But how can I avoid him now when he's supposed to be my guardian?
Ugh, this whole thing is making me with a headache. I need to get out of here. "I'm leaving. See you at school or not."
"How will you go there? You can catch a ride with the boys." Eli said looking directly at me. "No, I'll go with a friend."
"Aren't your friends from your former high school?" Eli eyed me suspiciously. Oh, right I forgot about that. What do I do now? I can't go with them. They would be infuriating.
