A week passed since my visit to the Davis's house. There is still no sign of Gemma. I found it strange the behaviour of her mom but I decided not to dwell over it.
My brothers were back to school and they were suspiciously kind enough to offer me to sit in their table at lunch until Gemma came.
I was sceptical in the beginning but now I find myself seated between Chase and Dean. There are other people here except for my brothers and Jax.
This is the table of the popular kids. Some cheerleaders and guys in the football team are here.
"The one near Nate is Aaron." Dean started introducing everyone. "I don't recommend talking to him. He's a douche. Next to him is Logan. He is Aaron's cousin so that makes him a douche too. And the one between Logan and Cade is Scott. He is an asshole so don't talk to him." He finished.
"Why do you sit with them if they are 'douches'?" I asked Dean. He shrugged. Why am I not surprised?
The whole time I was talking to him I felt eyes on me. When I decided to look for the culprit I made eye contact with none other than Jax. I gave him a questioning look but he just shrugged and looked the other way.
"So you won't introduce yourself?" I heard an unfamiliar voice ask. I turned my head on the direction of the voice and locked eyes with one of the guys that I know as Aaron.
He had a cocky grin in his face and the way he was looking at me made my stomach turn. I don't like the vibe he is giving me.
"You would be stupid if you didn't know who I was after the whole incident that happened here the last time." I said in a not-so-nice tone.
"She called you stupid man." Logan laughed. I smirked at that. In the faces of my brothers too was a small twitch of their lips.
Aaron clearly didn't like this. "I have never seen you in this school before. We didn't even know the Walkers had a sister. How come?"
He was trying to put me in a difficult place. He knew that for whatever reason I didn't want to attend the same school as my brothers it would be something I wouldn't want to talk about. I will not give him the satisfaction of that.
"I was in a different school. Just so you know, even if I was in the same school as them you wouldn't have seen much of me. Do you wanna know why?" They were all looking at me, waiting for the answer.
"The reason is because I would have thought that my brothers friends were douches. Now I know I was right." I said as I got up ready to leave the cafeteria.
My brothers snickered at this and I couldn't help but smile a little. When I looked at Jax direction I noticed he had a smirk on his face but when he saw me looking at him it quickly disappeared and he turned in his normal cold self.
The day went by pretty fast. I was now waiting for my brothers while they finished practice. Now that Gemma isn't here I don't have a ride home so I was stuck waiting.
Some girls are here too, mesmerised by the beauty of my brothers. Note the sarcasm.
Okay, they are not that bad in appearance but that doesn't mean every girl needs to act like they're gods. I swear it busts their egos.
The game was pretty intense. The opposing team was blocking Chase who had the ball. He tried to break free bit it was no use. He was trying to find an opening.
Finally, he made some space between them and that's when he took advantage of the situation and passes the ball to Dean.
Dean ran as fast as he could. He so close but a player, who was not in the same team as him, was coming his way. Before they could crash together Dean threw the ball and then both he and the player fell to the ground.
Cheers, coming from his 'fangirls', broke out but Dean looked disoriented and couldn't point out what was happening. Then his teammates ran to him and congratulated him in making the final score.
Now, he was full on smiling proudly. He probably won't shut up about it when we get home.
As they were making their way to the locker room Dean winked at a few girls. They started screaming when he did that and I'm sure that if he came talking to them they would fall to their knees.
When they no longer were in my line of vision, I got up and made my way to their car.
As I was waiting someone called my name. I turned my head and to say I was stunned would be an understatement.
Jax was walking like he didn't have a care in the world. He looked fully changed as he now had his uniform on instead of his practice one.
"What do you want?" I asked eagerly waiting for his answer. It was strange that he wanted to talk to me since we haven't had any contact since that day at Gemma's house.
"Have you heard from Gemma?" His face was expressionless and his tone didn't sound like the worrying type but his eyes told another story. They looked troubled and as much as he tried to hide it I could see it perfectly. "No, I haven't."
His eyes dropped for a second but quickly he regained his usual look again. "Why did you ask?"
"It's none of your business." He said and started walking away. "Hey, that's not true. She is my friend."
"And she is my sister so when I say it's not your business, you stay out of it." Before I could come with a comeback to what he said, he got into the car and left.
If he thought that I will stay out of it when the only one who befriended me when no one else did is maybe in trouble, he has another thing coming. I will make sure Gemma's okay even if he says otherwise.
"Hey, Serena!" I heard Dean's voice from a far. "Did you see how talented I am." Now you see that I wasn't kidding when I said he would brag about it all the way home. "Get over yourself buddy. It wasn't that big of a deal." I said in return.
"For once in my life I am totally agreeing with you sis." Nate, who usually makes it his mission to not talk to me, said.
"You are all jealous that I am better than you." Dean said like he believed it. "Yeah, dude I'm sure that is the case." Cade decided to gang up against him.
"My own closest brother is against me. I'm wounded." He put a hand near his hear for dramatic effect. Them he put his arm around Chase's neck and said, "I don't need you when I have Chase here who unlike you is happy for me, right brother?"
"Yeah, no buddy. I'm not in the mood to listen to you bragging about it." The four of us made our way to the car. "You are all traitors. You hear me! Traitors!" Dean shouted behind us. We all burst into laughter.
This is the first time after years that I have genuinely laughed in the presence of my brothers. It feels strange but also a part of me likes it. I have started to become closer to them and I don't know if that's a good idea.
But for one thing I'm certain though. I don't want this moment to end.
