Chapter 5

(Kanen's POV)

I lay there looking up at the ceiling, not being able to sleep. I missed her, I missed her touch, and the way she would blush just the smallest bit when I looked her in the eye. I feel restless, but I'm exhausted. Why the hell can't I sleep?

Out of no where I get this sharp pain in my head, followed by other pains in my ribs. It honestly felt like one of my ribs broke, but there is nothing there to cause this pain, but it went away as quickly as it came.

I don't know why, but my thoughts automatically went out to Jamie. I ran out into the hallway, and nearly smacked into Niko. He put a smirk on his face.

"What's wrong? Couldn't stay way?" I resisted the urge to punch that smirk right off his face. How DARE he joke when my mate is in trouble! Whoa. How do I know this is about her? This could be anything.

"Niko, what does it mean when you are laying in bed and you feel like the shit is being beat out of you?" I asked nearly out of breath, still feeling the sharp pains every now and again.

"Um... probably that your delusional?" He said with slight humor in his voice.

"Niko I'm serious! I don't know why but I get the feeling that Jamie is in trouble!" His face went pail. He started shaking his head, and walked into his room, me following right behind.

He picked up a book, and flipped through it for a minute. I'm really starting to get frustrated. This is no time to read a stupid picture book! He stopped when he found the page he was looking for, and turned the book around to where I can see.

The book had a picture of two male wolves fighting. One had the upper hand, and had giving the other a gash on its side. There was another wolf standing out to the side also in pain. It was a female, and had the exact same gash as the other wolf. I looked down to the caption:

Soul mate: Two become one.

That was all it said. I looked to Niko, knowing he will explain.

"Two become One. It means that you basically become one person. Kanen... You didn't just claim a mate... You claimed your soul mate. You can feel what ever the other is feeling, whether it be pain, sorrow, joy, and even death. The only difference is that you wont feel it to the full extent, just like a preview of a movie. You don't get the full effect. If what your feeling hurts... You need to get to Jamie, and fast, because it will be so much worse for her." I didn't stop to hear more, I turned on my heals and ran. 

I ran as fast as I could. I didn't know where I was going, I just followed my instincts. I knew they would lead me to her, my wolf would lead me to her. I felt the cold biting at my exposed skin, I didn't think to put on a jacket, let a lone pants. Here I am running as fast as I can in the middle of the night, with nothing but my boxers on.

I was close, I could tell. My wolf wanted out so bad, I was fighting for control. I gave up, I would get there faster if I let him take over, and I know he could fight better than I could. We turned around the corner, and stopped out side someones front door.

I could smell her already. I heard shouting from behind the door, then it stopped. They know I'm here. Before they could get the door open, I stepped back a little and slammed my body against it, the door flying off the hinges. 

I stood there, with three guys looking back at me in anger. Growls ripping from their throats, which I matched back with my own. I could see her lying on the floor to my right. I started to walk over to her, never taking my eyes off them. The one to my left charged at me, but I was quick to turn around and bite him back, taking a chunk out of his cheek. He whimpered and backed down. The others just stood there growling at me.
