She was the coldest girl I'd ever met, but that was because no girl ever treated me like she did. She reminded me of this exact hour of the day, dark but peaceful, a time when the night hours gave me solace from the worries of the day. And like the numerous stars that shone, she was equally beautiful.

I lay on the grass and let my eyes take in the wonders of the sky while my mind drifted back to the new girl. I'd known since we resumed two weeks ago that a transfer student would join us this year and would be in my class, and when I met the strange girl today, I knew at once that she was the one we'd all been waiting for, some more than others.

Excel High has had a few scholarship students over the years and we had one in our set, a boy who had been with us since our first year of junior school. This boy had talent just like the few others that came before him, he was an artist and one T.A Industries took pride in sponsoring. They were all like that, either exceptionally talented or geniuses, but there were never two of them in a set, especially not one that came in their final year.

That was why I kept wondering what this girl had that Excel High wanted so badly. Or how valuable she was that T.A Industries decided to sponsor her. My curiosity had been at its peak for two weeks straight and the explanation Principal Katherine gave me and the other prefects did nothing to satisfy it.

She told us yesterday that the girl had aced the scholarship exam and came in first place amongst the five hundred other applicants. The other prefects believed this explanation, but I thought it was complete bullshit.

She was nothing like I expected her to be, not that I knew exactly what I expected, but it was certainly not someone that rude. And despite how she treated me, her image was stuck in my head. She was around five-feet-eleven, she had subtle curves, the most beautiful brown skin, and long hair. I'd seen girls with long natural hair but hers was the longest I'd seen. I didn't get a good look at her face but what I saw was enough to know she could have been a model if she wanted.

"What are you thinking about?" Lawrence asked from beside me.

"It's the new girl, I saw her this afternoon Law," I answered facing my best friend.

"I also got a glimpse of her. She's striking isn't she?" He passed a knowing look at me.

I laughed.

"It's not just that, I spoke to her, well I tried to but she didn't even look at me, I'm telling you this girl just brushed me off."

"That's a first for you," Lawrence said. He put his glasses in position and sat up. "But that means she also didn't see you, you know no girl can resist your charm." He teased.

"I feel like my looks won't make a difference."

"I'm sure they will." He looked at me seriously. "You know she's all you've been talking about for weeks now right? Literally, since we resumed."

It was the first time he was pointing this out. Of course, he noticed.

"I'm concerned Law, that's all," I said.

"I'm just saying you have other things to think of. Our first match with the Lions is tomorrow, and you know you have a lot of preparation to do for the upcoming national competition, you also have Becky to worry about."

He was right, I'd definitely missed our football games and I'd thought about a million ways to fuck up the Lions during the school break, the national competition that Becky and I have been preparing for would also happen this term, but all thoughts about the Lions and the national competition left me when we resumed.

There are however, certain things I couldn't ignore, one of such things was my relationship with Becky.

"What about Becky?"
