it's me, the author 😍😍

this was actually supposed to be published right after chapter 10, but it wasn't posting for some reason and now it's a chapter late 🙃

pls don't skip this as it's actually relevant to the plot 😞

i'm making this for two reasons: to establish everyone's relationship with each other and to explain the plot since i know the lore is confusing as hell

if you understand or wish to interpret alone, feel free to skip this chapter

these are how everyone sees each other:

Bang Chan
- designated leader by everyone
- reliable
- level headed
- role model
- keeps everyone grounded in safe throughout the story so far

Lee Know
- more impulsive
- caring
- puts everyone else first
- tries to take care of everyone

Changbin
- hot headed
- calm at the same time
- does a lot of the heavy lifting (driving, fighting, etc.)
- basically a level headed guy who multitasks

Hyunjin
- flirty
- really cares about everyone
- discovered the most about the system so far

Han Jisung
- he and y/n are like best friends
- even in the prologue they had this bond like best friends or siblings
- quick thinker
- comes off as cold, but truly cares

Felix
- somewhat a genius, at least right now
- skilled mechanically (ex. having the ability to fix the compass)
- sweetheart everyone has a soft spot for

Seungmin
- flirty
- sarcastic
- really cares for everyone
- cares deeply about family (ex. when apologizing to Hyunjin)

Jeongin
- baby of the group
- it wasn't hard to figure out who the youngest and oldest are, even if their memories are gone
- timid
- strong
- adored and loved by everyone
- plays a very important role in the story later

to sum the characters up, everyone loves each other like family with the exception of y/n.

i mean don't get me wrong, y/n loves everyone like family too. they just see her as something more.

it is clearly shown in many cases that the members have developed romantic feelings for y/n.

y/n is starting to become more aware of those feelings, and trying to sort her own feelings out as well. more will be shown in later chapters.

moving on to the plot 🤡

Prologue
- takes place in the Hellevator MV
- Jisung and y/n board the Hellevator first
- everyone follows
- they discover the two worlds
- they are taken by the system and brainwashed

Chapter 1
- takes place in the District 9 MV
- the Stray Kids rebel against the system
- they form an escape plan
- they escape to a place they call District 9

Chapter 2
- takes place in the My Pace MV
- racing is shown and they nearly get caught by the system again
- they run and escape to where the next chapter takes place
- Seungmin's feelings for y/n are shown for the first time

Chapter 3 & Half of Chapter 4
- takes place in the Miroh MV
- the Stray Kids see protests happening in the city
- they try to stop the protests only to find it's not working at all
- Jisung starts becoming protective over y/n
- Minho and Hyunjin are seen being jealous of Jisung's protectiveness towards y/n

Half of Chapter 4, Chapter 5, & Chapter 6
- takes place in the Side Effects MV
- the Stray Kids take a bus
- they experience "side effects" from taking a path leading away from the system
-y/n passes out and has a dream about her past before being brainwashed
-the dream takes place in Mixtape: Oh and Mixtape: On Track MVs
- she doesn't know it's the past though
- the system is supposed to be perfect and make them feel good
- straying from the system makes them sick
- this is shown when they say the popular line "my head hurts"
- Hyunjin's feelings are revealed more strongly than before

Chapters 7, 8, 9
- takes place in the Double Knot MV
- the compass is discovered to be broken
- Hyunjin finds a key
- this transitions to the turning point in the story: Astronaut and Levanter
- Felix's feelings for y/n emerge
- Hyunjin expresses his feelings to y/n through more forward advances

Chapter 10
- takes place in the Astronaut MV
- Hyunjin encounters clones in various rooms
- yes, there are clones
- yes, Chan is a villain
- yes, there is more to the story

Chapter 11
- takes place in the Astronaut MV as well
- this is really just information about the clones
- clones cannot coexist with people of the same DNA since they're unfinished
- for example, Hyunjin's clone cannot come in contact with Hyunjin himself
- y/n has no clone since the workers messed it up
- Hyunjin was essentially forced to work with them
- Chan threatened to hurt his loved ones if he doesn't

i hope this was a clear explanation of the happenings so far 😭

there will be an intermission every 10 chapters to help readers understand what's going on and to give a general recap.

i would also like to say i'm a student who is actively in school and working and taking dance classes. i most likely will not be able to do daily updates for much longer once school starts, but i'll try!

although i know not a ton of people read this, i just wanted to say i'm deeply sorry to those who keep up with this book daily. thank you for understanding.
