Back at the pad we watched television to get the events that had occurred before, off our minds. I especially wanted to forget about it. the only bad thing about being with all the Monkees: Micky was always hanging around on the left of me and to my right was always Mike. I'm not gonna say I don't enjoy it when they're with me because that would be a lie, but the bad thing is the decision I knew I'd have to make sooner or later between Micky and Mike. Mike held my right hand and Micky my left. I always felt awkward in situations like this. am I supposed to speak to both of them or take turns or what? "Let's go do something. I mean really  something like go on a date or something" Mike suggested. "a date with two of you?"  "well I was actually thinking just me but-"  "oh that's fine. I'll sit here and watch television with Peter and Davy while you two go around the town having the time of your lives"  Micky let go of my hand and went up to the Monkees' shared room in frustration. "Micky!" I called. I got no answer what-so-ever. "Micky come back down here! we can all go!"  I walked up the stairs quietly so he wouldn't hear me and stood outside his door deciding whether to knock or go out with Michael. I knocked. "go away!" was his reply. I tried to open the door but it wouldn't budge. "come on Micky I'm serious. come out of there"  he only unlocked the door. I opened it and walked in finding him on his bed lying with his arms folded over his eyes. I sat on the bed and gently tried to pry his arms away. he used all of his strength to keep them there. I waited, humming a Beatles song until he relaxed again, then I pried his arms away from his eyes quickly and saw his eyes red and watery. there were tear streaks on his face. "wow it's okay. I didn't choose him over you or anything. I didn't say yes to his offer did I?"  "nobody likes me. I have the worst of luck with girls. I'm just a skinny, ugly, good-for-nothing weakling"  "no you're not. and don't tell me you have the worst luck with girls because I'm really in love with you"  "why don't you just stop lying and accept his offer!" I was done arguing with him. I left the room and closed the door quietly. Mike was waiting outside the door. "ready?" he asked. "yeah, let's go" I took his hand and we left for the Monkeemobile.

"where were you planning on going?" I asked as we were driving along the town. "well, there's a movie showing at the drive-in theatre. I was thinking maybe you'd wanna go there since you did mention going to one sometime"  it was easy to see just how nervous he was. "that's great! which movies are showing?"  "well I have a couple you might wanna see but one of them is from last year"  "and the titles are..." I asked waiting impatiently. "The Sound Of Music, and the second one is The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly"   I stared at him in disbelief. "what made ya think I'd wanna see The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly?"  "no reason, I didn't know what genre you liked and you seemed like a action movie kinda girl"    "Clint Eastwood is pretty handsome" I replied. I watched to see what his reaction was. he didn't seem to mind. "at least you're not like all the other girls. all they want is Davy, Davy, Davy, it's like, give us a chance for once ya know?"   "I don't exactly know what it's like to wanna date a girl, but yeah I understand. back in middle-school my one friend always stole al the boys. she was like a magnet for them"  "you shoulda given her a talkin' to!"   "no, I'm not gonna let some dumb boy ruin our friendship. boys aren't worth it but, there's one exception"   "what's that?"  "you" I saw his face turn bright red and mine did also. I had to turn away so he wouldn't see it.

I looked at him a few minutes later and saw he was smiling. "I'm really surprised at how blunt you are about it. I like that in a girl, they get to the point and leave out all the extra, you know, mushy stuff"  "mushy stuff huh?" I laughed.

we continued to talk like that until we drove into the drive-in theatre's parking lot and took a seat with the rest of the folks who came to see The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly.  "boy we made good timing. If we came a little earlier we woulda had to sit through The Sound Of Music" Mike said with a relived face. "oh, it's not that bad" I said. "after all, you are a musician"  "yeah and the guys and I go skipping over hills while a group of kids follows us too"  he said sarcastically. I laughed loudly... too loud. the person in front of us turned around and shooshed us. I tried not to laugh even harder.

after the movie, we parked legally on the street and walked hand-in-hand to little shops along the sidewalk. "well let's see, we have the music store, a deli on the next corner and ooh! free piano lessons on the next left up here!" Mike explained to me. "I've always wanted to play the piano" I said. "well let's go then!"   he grabbed my arm to lead me around the corner. "wait, wait, wait. couldn't you or one of the guys just teach me instead?"   "ah, well, Peter wouldn't be too happy to do-"  "yes he would!"   "let's just make our lives a whole lot easier and go here alright?"   being the soft girl I was, I gave into him and we went to the second music store to get my piano lessons started.

Sorry I haven't updated in awhile... I've been pretty busy with all the summer activities going on. Thanks for reading! hope ya liked it!:)  "save the Texas Prairie Chicken!"
