This is ridiculous! Who the hell does he think he is? I am not some fragile little girl. "Put me down, Caden!" I demand. As soon as the doc came in and gave me the thumbs up to go home Caden threw me over his shoulder, ignoring my protests and kicks and headed out to the car.

"Not a chance princess. You heard Doc, he wants you to rest for the remainder of the day. No strenuous exercise."

"Walking is not strenuous exercise, you dumbass." I bark back. My body bounces up and down as I feel him laugh under me. There are more people in the warehouse now then there were a few hours ago, and every single one of them have their eyes on us. "I am so going to kick your ass for this." I say, my face burning with embarrassment.

"Good luck with that, love." He adjusts me on his shoulder, making me shriek, which gets a laugh from Trinity. She raises her eyebrows and looks between Caden and I. I scrunched my nose and shake my head at her before turning away, trying to hide my face from her so she can't see the redness in my cheeks deepen even more. Caden stops walking and lifts me off his shoulder but instead of landing on my feet he carries me bridal style, while Trinity reaches to open the car door for him so that he can put me in the car. I start to squirm in hopes of getting away from him, but with the hand that is around my back he tickles my ribs, "Please! Please stop!" I beg, through fits of laughter.

"What is WRONG with you people?" Trey yells from behind us. His voice makes the three of us go silent and I slowly slip out of Caden's arms and stand beside him. It's so full of anger that I instinctively take a step back, my ass hitting the car door.

"A lot. You are going to have to be more specific, babe." Trinity quips.

"Someone is out there threatening Ember. HE was in your fucking warehouse," Trey jabs his finger in Caden's direction, "and you three are here laughing and acting like nothing happened. Acting as though Ember didn't just get discharged from YOUR infirmary after passing out because that bastard put her worst nightmare up on display for everyone to see!" His eyes land on me for a second and his expression softens, but that doesn't last long, because Caden decides to speak up.

"We know what the situation is, mate. We are handling it so you might wanna calm down." His voice is so even and calm, in comparison to Trey's, but I can tell by the veins in his arms that he is barely holding it together. He is pissed about what happened today and I know that all the laughing was for my benefit.

"Handling it? How is it being handled? Obviously you can't even handle keeping your house clean. This prick needs to be stopped!"

"You have no fucking clue what you are talking about." Caden snaps back at Trey. I try to grab Caden's arm to calm him down, but it is no use.

"I think I do. I think you have been too busy making googly eyes at Ember to fucking notice what is right in front of you. Do you not see how all of this is your fault? If you had taken the threat seriously when we first came to you and fulfilled your end of the deal - yeah, I know about the little deal you two had", Trey directs that last bit to me when he sees the shocked look on my face, "then there is no way this would've happened. You guys are meant to be the big, bad Black Wolves. But to me you look like lost little puppies chasing your goddamn tails. " Trey is clenching and unclenching his fists as he stares daggers at Caden. "THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT!" He bellows.

"My fault?" Caden's voice comes out cold and terrifying, "You want to blame someone for all of this, take a look in the fucking mirror, mate. You let this asshole walk into your house, that's how this whole thing started. If you were stronger, you could've stopped him there and then, but you were too much of a coward to do anything but wait for Ember to come and save you."
Trey clenched his jaw so hard I am sure he is about to shatter his teeth. "Guys, stop." I say diplomatically and go to move so that I'm between them but a hand grabs me pulling me back.
"They need to have it out. This has been building since you arrived at the penthouse." Trinity whispers to me.
I can't just stand here, they look like they are about to rip each others throats out. Trey takes a threatening step towards Caden, obviously trying to intimidate him. Caden don't make a move forward, he just stands up a little straighter, which makes him look enormous. He is only a few inches taller than Trey but the way he carries himself makes him look so intimidating. He pushes his shoulders back slightly so that his chest looks even bigger than normal and clenches his fists so that the veins in his arms - which are already visible, start to bulge and pulse under his skin.
"I'm the coward?" Trey spits, "What about you? Are you ever going to tell her the truth."
"What truth?" I quickly ask.
"Remember who you are talking to, Trey." Caden warns, Trey's name sounding like venom from his mouth.

"What are you talking about?" I demand, yanking Caden's arm so that he has to face me. Caden said he has never lied to me, so what is Trey talking about. Was Caden lying? Has he been playing me this whole time? What could he be hiding? His blue eyes are so full of rage when they connect with mine, that I feel a shiver go down my back. I don't let go of his arm or show how scared I feel inside, instead I straighten up and hold his laser like gaze.

"Go on. Tell her." Trey dares Caden. With that comment Caden's head whips around and he lunges at Trey, his fist positioned in a way that will connect with Trey's jaw and definitely break it. Trey dodges, barely and stumbles backwards but recovers quickly and just in time, as Caden unleashes a flurry of punches, one after another Trey gracefully dodges them. He then dives to the side, ducking under Caden's powerful jab and uses that moment to slam his fist into Caden's ribs. From 3 metres away I can hear the bones crack and Caden grunts in pain.

"This is stupid! We need to stop this before it gets any worse!" I look to Trinity, hoping she is in agreement, but instead she is on her phone. "Are you fucking serious Trinity! Help me stop this." I hear Trey curse and look around to see that he is holding his bleeding nose and is stumbling backwards. Trinity looks lazily from me, to the guys, and back to me. "They are big boys, Em. I'm sure they can handle this."
Both Caden and Trey are bleeding now, but they aren't stopping. Fists are flying through the air so fast that it's hard to keep track of them, but the grunts and cursing tells me that most of the punches are landing true.

This has gone on long enough. I think to myself as I shove Trinity and grab the gun she has in her waistband, I flick the safety off, aim the gun at the ground close to where the fight is happening.
Take a breath.
Exhale. Pause.
Pull the trigger.
The bullet hits its intended target, right between their feet and both of them stumble backward in shock, landing flat on their ass.

"Fucking kill joy." I hear Trinity mutter from next to me, but she shuts up when I glare at her and hand the gun back to her. I walk over to where the guys are sitting on the ground, and they are staring at me in shock, panting and using their hands to apply pressure to various parts of their bodies that got hurt during their brawl.

"What the blo-" Trey starts to say, but I cut him off. "Shut the fuck up, Trey." I stop a metre away, staring down at them. I feel like a disapproving mother. I half expect the words 'I'm not mad, just disappointed' to come out of my mouth, but instead I just stare at them. Words form on the tip of my tongue but don't come out. I want to be mad at them, they are absolute idiots; but they are fighting because of me, because of a situation I've created. They are fighting because I brought chaos into their lives and now they are trying to save me from the inevitable. If I had just done a better job of killing HIM the then this wouldn't be happening. If I hadn't been so desperate to get away and made sure HE was dead, HE would be a thing of my past and nothing more. It's neither of their faults. It's mine. I wish I could tell them this; explain why they shouldn't be fighting over it but I don't know how to express it to them in a way that will make them understand. So I stand here. Staring at them.
The only men in my life.
Even though Trey has hidden things from me and has sometimes overstepped his boundaries, I feel a sense of responsibility to him. He saved me, even if he didn't know it at the time. When I had nothing and no one, he offered me - a stranger - a place to live. He tried so hard to be my friend but I just pushed him away. I was too scared to get close to anyone. I didn't want him to get hurt, but I still hurt him.
Then there is Caden. They guy that should be a villain in my story; the big, bad leader of the Black Wolves, a murderer, a criminal; and yet he has never been a villain to me. From the moment I met him, he made me feel something I didn't think I would ever feel again. Safe.
How am I meant to tell them all of this? How am I meant to explain to them that instead of fighting over my situation, they should be running from it?
I can't. I don't know how.
"Keys." I hold my hand out, expectantly. Confusion clouds Caden's face as he studies me.
"Keys!" I say louder this time, snapping him out of his daze. Hesitantly he reached into his pocket and pulls out the keys to his car, throwing them over to me. I spin on the spot and storm off towards his car. I unlock it and jump in. Trinity bolts to the passenger side and slip into the car.
"Hurry up before I leave and you shitheads have to walk home." I call out over the engine. They both scurry to their feet and rush over to the car, ducking inside - which sounds painful as hell. As soon as the doors close I speed off.
