I thrust my  hand over my mouth, desperate to keep in the laugh that wants to burst out.
"What the fuck Bobby!" Caden curses. "I told you to be gone by the time I got back!"
"I thought you might want another round." The naked red head smirks and places her hands on her hips. She looks over at me and her face changes from flirtatious to rage. "Who are you?" She barks at me.
"Me... I'm the new maid. Don't mind me, I'm just here to take out the trash." I make a big gesture toward the elevator and give a half bow, "After you." I try to stay in character as best I can but the look on her face is absolutely priceless.
Caden chuckles beside me and crosses his arms over his chest, showing off his muscular biceps. It takes everything in me to not stare at him, instead I force myself to keep eye contact with Bobby.
"You little bitch!" Bobby snarls and starts to walk toward me.
"As much as I would LOVE to see how this" -Caden gestures between the two of us- "ends, you need to go. Now." She looks furious as her eyes flickering between Caden and I. She doesn't hide her jealously well.
"But she-"
"Now!" Caden cuts her off. Her eyes open wide in shock but without missing a beat she huffs and turns around to go and find her clothes. I put my hand over my mouth to cover the smile that is creeping on to my face. It's not like that's the reason I came here but I have to admit, after the last few days, I needed to have some fun.
It takes Bobby about 5 minutes to find her 3 items of clothing, and that's including her heels. She slips her black minidress over her head and slips her feet into her absurdly high red heels and makes her way back over to Caden and I. She glares at me as she walks over, and if looks could kill, I would be dead 3 times over.
"Call me later baby." She winks at Caden and leans up to kiss him but he moves his head back so she misses his lips. Bobby's cheeks flare bright red with embarrassment and she scurries off to the elevator, not looking back.
As the doors to the elevator close Caden motions for me to follow him over to the living room. As he settled back on to the couch he looks at me with a curious look on his face.
"So... are you going to tell me about these other problems you were talking about?"
Is he really going to act like nothing just happened? Like there wasn't a naked woman in his apartment 2 minutes ago?
"Getting straight to the point I see." I scoff back. He just shrugs his shoulders and waits for me to answer him.
"It's a long story, but the short version is that someone is after me for something I did a long time ago. I don't know his name or what he looks like but I know he won't stop until he gets me." I pause and wait for Caden's reaction but he doesn't give one. His face is emotionless as he listens. "He has shown that he is willing to kill to get to me," I continue, "so I propose a trade. I'll help you find this file and help recover whatever else my father took before he was killed, and I get protection from your gang until I can find whoever is after me." I dramatically sit down on the couch opposite Caden and wait for his answer.
"Ballsy," Caden smirks at me, giving me a slight nod. He expands when he seems my confused look. "You are one ballsy woman to propose a trade when I could just take what I want from you, especially now that your friend is on his way here with all the files."
My stomach drops a bit, but then an idea comes to me and I'm filled with confidence again. "That's true, you could just take the files and get rid of me. But then you wouldn't get back the dozens of crates full of weapons and drugs that my father also stole from you. I am the only one that can get them back for you." This surprises him and he just stares at me for a moment.
"Do we have a deal?" I stand and extend my hand to him. He slowly gets up and steps towards me, and extends his hand grasping mine. As his hand wraps around mine I can feel sparks go off in my hand from his touch. I look from our hands, to his eyes, which are full of amusement and something else that I can't quite put my finger on. "Deal." He responds shaking my hand once. He doesn't let my hand go though. He just continues to stare at me and for a moment I can't seem to look away.
Ding
The sound of the elevator snaps me back to reality and I pull my hand out of his grasp and subconsciously wipe my palm against my jeans trying to get rid of the warm sensation that is still in pulsing in my hand from his touch. Caden sees this and smiles down at me.
The doors open releasing an angry Trey and the twin bodyguards, Tanner and Tony. The 3 of them are each carrying 2 boxes, Trey seems to be struggling with his 2, because of the injury on his arm but there is no way his pride would let him ask for assistance from these behemoths. Before Trey gets too close I look back at Caden, "Please don't mention our deal to Trey. Can we keep the details of it between us?" I whisper. Caden doesn't say a word because Trey is now only a few feet away instead he looks at me and gives me a small nod. Trey clears his throat and Caden gestures over to the dining table, instructing the men where to put the boxes down, without breaking eye contact with me.
A shiver goes down my spine when I finally look at Trey's face. I have never seen him so furious. His eyes dart back and forth between Caden and I. I give Trey a small smile and make my way over to the dining table where all the boxes now sit.
"Trey! Your arm! It's bleeding again." I gesture to the now fresh blood on his bandage, "you really have to be careful with that. I'm sure BFG 1 and 2 over here could've carried those boxes up for you." I throw my thumb in Tony and Tanner's direction causing Tanner to let out a low chuckle. "Feisty. I love it." He winks at me.
Trey's face softens a little bit as he looks at me, "I'm fine Em. I was so worried about you being here with him," his eyes shoot daggers at Caden and Caden lifts his hands defensively, smiling. "I swear I didn't even feel it reopen."
"Let's get it cleaned up again, ok? Where is your first aid kit?" I ask without turning around. I don't get a reply, instead Tony walks out of the room and comes back a few moments later with a tool box sized first aid kit.
I open up the box and it has everything from bandaids to local anaesthetic. I grab out some new gauze, rubbing alcohol and a packet of steri-strips and start cleaning up Trey's wound once again.
After a few very awkward moments, I stick the last piece of tape on to the side of the gauze, holding it in place.
"Done!" I exclaim, wiping fake sweat beads off my head to break the uncomfortable silence we have fallen into.
"Splendid." Caden's voice is dripping with sarcasm and he claps his hands together, "shall we begin?"
