MADELYN HAD BEEN cooped up in her room for at least three days, and honestly, after that excruciatingly detailed story of her past was told in front of her face the other night, she thought it was most reasonable. Seconds after Grayson finished his little tale, Maddy had darted inside, ignoring the countless voices calling after her.
She headed straight for the stairs, grabbing a few snacks from the random drawers in the hallway. When she was younger, she always ended waking up during the night hungry as hell, so, like any eleven year old would, she'd sneak to the kitchens and raid the snack cupboards.
Unfortunately for her, she would always get caught doing so by the kitchen staff, who were always less than pleased at the child.
Nash, basically being her older brother at this point, decided he would pay one of the kitchen staff to restock a set of drawers just outside her bedroom every few weeks when she was visiting. So whenever the girl was hungry, she always had a stash to raid.
Because of that handy little drawer, it gave Madelyn the perfect excuse to practically live in her room for a couple days.
"Maddy? Are you in there?" Xander shouted from the hall, his head pressed against the door.
"Of course she's in there", Nash said incredulously, smacking his brother's arm softly with the back of his hand, "she hasn't left in days dipshit." Nash remarked as Xander let out a high pitched yelp.
"What do you want." Maddy grumbled from inside of the room, her face pressed against her pillow
"Can we come in?" Nash asked, his tone gentle.
"Nope, sorry, I'm busy." She replied, her voice still muffled by the sheets.
"No you're not" Xander raised a brow, "we can hear the tv playing from here." Nash's head slowly turned to face his brother, his face contorted into a look of astonishment at Xander's sheer stupidity sometimes. For the family nerd, he had no idea how to read the tone of people's voices.
Suddenly, the door burst open and in walked the two boys, fed up looks on their faces. "Wait, are you watching our show without me?" Xan asked, suddenly realising what he was hearing. He casually strolled over to the bed, sitting on the mattress beside her.
"Xander get up", Nash grumbled, "that's not why we're here." He scolded him, dragging him off the bed by his collar, all while snatching Maddy's remote out of her hands, pressing down on the pause button.
