Shock envelops me in its icy embrace, rendering me motionless. I stand there, frozen, uncertain of what my next move should be. The King's words, dripping with authority and menace, continue to reverberate in my ears like a low growl that slices through the heavy air of the castle. His piercing gaze remains locked onto me, cold and unyielding, as if he can see through every layer of my being.

A forceful push from behind jolts me out of my stupor. With sheer willpower, I compel my body to move forward, each step feeling like an insurmountable burden. My feet drag reluctantly across the cold stone floor as we embark on a journey through a winding passage that seems to have been forgotten by the passage of time. The walls, adorned with faded tapestries and cobwebs, bear witness to the castle's long-forgotten secrets.

The staircase we ascend is an ancient relic, each creaking step groaning underfoot as if protesting the intrusion of our presence. The flickering candlelight casts eerie shadows on the walls, creating an unsettling dance of light and darkness. Above, webs hang like gossamer shrouds, suspended in mid-air, their delicate threads forming a treacherous labyrinth that threatens to ensnare me at any moment.

Finally, we arrive at a door that appears to have seen little use in the past years. The faint jingling of keys punctuates the oppressive silence, the metallic sound echoing ominously in the confined space. As the door swings open with a long, mournful creak, the King and Queen pass through its threshold, their regal figures silhouetted by the flickering candlelight that spills into the corridor. My heart sinks, a heavy weight settling in the pit of my stomach - they must know about the stolen paper. Why else would they lead me to this remote and desolate part of the castle, far away from the prying eyes of courtiers and servants?

A flicker of desperation tempts me to glance back at the passage, contemplating a daring escape, but the heavy door slams shut with a resounding click, sealing my fate and extinguishing any hope of retreat.

"Your King told you to follow," the Queen reminds me, her tone a stark reminder of my lack of choice.

With a deep breath, I follow the Queen and King to yet another winding staircase, the echoes of their footsteps a constant reminder of the urgency of the situation. Each step I take feels like a heavy burden, the weight of their expectations pressing down on me. The staircase, a relic of the past, creaks and groans underfoot as if protesting our ascent, as if it too knows the gravity of the secrets that are about to be unveiled.

As we climb, the ancient stone beneath my feet seems to resonate with the heaviness in my heart, as though it absorbs my anxiety and fear, becoming an unwitting accomplice to my plight. The webs that hang from the ceiling, like gossamer shrouds, grow thicker with each passing step, casting eerie shadows that seem to dance in the flickering candlelight. It's as if malevolent spirits have spun these veils, ready to ensnare any trespasser who dares to intrude upon the castle's hidden mysteries.

Finally, we reach the summit of this seemingly endless staircase. Before us lies a small, candlelit room, its coziness a stark contrast to the cold, imposing corridors we've left behind. The furniture, though worn with the passage of time, hints at stories from generations past. Piles of ancient chests, stacked without rhyme or reason, seem to harbor secrets long forgotten by those who once possessed them.

The Queen gestures gracefully for me to sit, and I quickly accept the invitation, my body sinking into the cushioned chair. The room's warm, flickering light casts intricate patterns on the walls, creating an atmosphere that's both comforting and mysterious.

The King's presence hanga heavily in the air, casting a foreboding shadow over the small, candlelit room. His commanding air seeming to fill every corner, leaving no space for escape. As he paces with measured steps, his regal demeanor only intensifies the gravity of the situation. My heart races in my chest, my breaths shallow and uneven, as I dare not lift my gaze from the cold floor beneath my feet.
