Disclaimer: I do not own these characters or McDonalds (obviously)
"I'll have one happy meal please," I mumbled, searching my pockets for spare change.
"Uh... okay." the boy standing behind the cash register replied. He had sunny blond hair. Wavy and a mess. It kind of reminded me of... Will Solace. Wait. No. It could NOT be him.
"Death boy?" Will asked, staring at me in confusion. I shook my head angrily, taking a few short steps back. My hands were shaking. Why was he here? Why, out of everyone, was it him?
I turned around and walked out of the building; for the first time, breaking my routine in weeks. Yes, it was my routine to come to McDonalds every Friday, after class. I started coming here a few years back, always ordering myself a Happy Meal despite my age.
I heard Will call out again, but chose to ignore him as I headed home, alone. I hated Will. I hated him with every ounce of hate I could come up with. So that's why, I put as much distance between myself and him as I could.

"Nico, your'e going to be working with Will." I couldn't believe it. Mr. Brunner, a teacher I thought I could actually trust, was making me work with the boy I completely hated and didn't get along with at all."I-I don't think t-that's going to work, we d-don't get a-along," I said, shakily. Mr. Brunner shook his head,
"Sorry Nico, but you will have to make due." He said, turning away and back to his computer. There was a thud on the desk as Will took a seat next to me.
"Hey Death Boy," he said, smiling smugly.
"Don't call me that," I said, inching away to the very edge of the desk. Will sighed and stared at his books, his expression changing.
"So... just a project on the Greek gods?" He asked. I nodded slowly, surprised by his neutral behaviour. He then began to explain an idea he had, quite in depth, I might say. Again, he surprised me. I had only ever heard him say cruel words, so this just... normal conversation was unfamiliar to me. Honestly though, it wasn't really a conversation since I didn't say much.
Somehow though, we managed to work... kind of... not really. I wasn't willing to say anything and Will wasn't exactly enthusiastic about it either. So barely anything was done, leaving us behind everyone else.
"Nico. Will. I need to speak to you, stay after class please." Mr. Brunner said at the end of class. I walked over to his desk and Will joined me.
"Listen. I know you two have problems with each other. But since nothing was done, I'm going to need you to work extra time on this. That means after school for a hour every day." I nearly fell over right there. A hour? Everyday? No. Nope. I could not.
After a few minutes of trying to convince him otherwise of his choice (and failing) the two of us left the class, heading out for lunch.
So now, not only was Will working where I like to go, and being forced to be my partner for a History project, but now I also had to spend an hour after school with for the next two weeks. Great. Just great.

A/N: okay. I know the project/partner thing is kinda typical and overused (I have read so many stories with it) but this isn't going to last long, and is just in the beginning of the story to get things going. Sorry I took so long to update (Ive been really busy, this is my last few days of school and we are doing these weird exit interviews ew)(and I may have been watching free! Eternal summer... ha ha)
Hope you like though! (Almost 100 reads with only the description and prologue holy crap)
Bye!
