"You have to be the unluckiest person ever. Like, your life really sucks." Max says.
Mom smacks Max across the head and I laugh.
"So how did it go? Hailee taking care of you?" Mom asks.
"Even though I had no memory of her, I remembered having some kind of attraction to her. I literally fell in love with her all over again." I say.
"That is a sign." Mom says.
"You guys should just get back together. So what if your schedules don't line up. Technology exists." Max says.
"Did you ever see that video of that woman accusing Hailee for using me for attention and that she never actually wanted me?" I ask.
"Yeah." Max says.
"That's what happened. That the reason we broke up." I say.
"What?!" Mom asks.
"Hailee said that she actually did fall in love with me and I believe that. I just can't trust her. It doesn't matter that you actually love me, what matters is why you wanted to be with me in the first place." I say.
"So why lie to everyone and tell them that your schedules didn't match up?" Max asks.
"Because I love Hailee more than anything. I just want to protect her, that's all I've ever wanted to do." I say.
"Couldn't be me. That bitch used me and won a Grammy?! Oh, it wouldn't have happened. I would've been in every news station on the fucking planet. They would've heard about this shit in North Korea and you know them motherfuckers can't even choose what to watch on TV." Max says.
"I couldn't do that to someone I love." I say.
"Well, Hailee made a really stupid decision but it's obvious that she is genuinely sorry. She hurt you a lot but it seems as though your love for her is towering over your hate for her." Mom says.
"I cannot tell you what to do but if you love her as much as you say you do, you should give her another chance." Mom says.
"I'll think about it." I say.
Time Skip
I'm officially out of my wheelchair and I got my cast off. I still limp a little but I move around fairly easy.
My phone rings and I answer it.
"Hey." I say.
"Are you busy?" Grant asks.
"No." I say.
"I need you to go to the hospital." Grant says.
"For what?" I ask.
"I'm in San Diego with the kids. Naomi's been in labor for a few hours and I thought I'd be back by now but traffic is crazy. I'm at least 2 hours away, can you go and give her some company?" Grant says.
"Aunt Y/n is on the way." I say.
"Haha, thanks." Grant says.
I hang up and grab my keys.
20 minutes later...
I open the door and hear a baby crying.
"You ain't even give me a chance to get here." I say.
The nurse laughs and I smile.
"8 pounds and 4 ounces." The nurse says.
"Chubby just like his daddy, no surprise." I say sitting in the chair beside Naomi.
