This chapter contains major spoilers for this story and Creature - if you for some reason haven't read the stories before this one, I suggest you read them both before this.

Right, so this is the explanation for the ending of Claws of Betrayal. As you've already read (I hope), the chapter ends on Blue waking up from dreaming the entire book.

"That must mean she dreamt Creature then too, right?"

WRONG. Let me clear some stuff up in case you were confused on what and how it happened.

-

So, the first ten or so chapters of Creature were all true. They all happened as it said, nothing changes. But then when Scarlet sells Gleam is where it all flips.

When Gleam gets accused for stealing that treasure, she's thrown into the underground cells, as you already know. Elk comes along and says he would help her, and that's where everything went downhill.

What really happened is that Elk didn't find the keys, and failed Gleam. This means that Gleam never got out of the cells and died down there, since Burn refused to free her.

Blue, traumatised and depressed that her first ever friend died, went to sleep and had a really really long dream about what would've happened if Elk hadn't failed Gleam. So from the chapter from Elk's perspective onwards in Creature all the way to the end to Claws of Betrayal, everything is a dream.

If you were confused, I hope this cleared stuff up!

Psst. Do you guys want a Wings of Fire or Warrior Cats story next? Tell me in the comments so I know what to write next, because I have ideas for both.
