Silas' POV...
When you're seventeen and study in one of the most expensive schools in the world as future heir of Kent's clan you can do anything.
Such luxury only taught me cruelty and aggressiveness, I know that no matter what I do, they can never say no to me. At first I hated how I was singled out from others because of my name, but then I started enjoying it...
Not everyone is so lucky to make their own choices, some have to obey established rules and pretend to be happy despite how they actually feel.
Living life under control means that single wrong word, single wrong action and you're victim of violence disguised as love and care. You have to do what you're told.
"She overreacted," I say, lighting my cigarette.
"Who?" Dan asks, his eyes on girl from our biology class.
"New girl," I look at my girlfriend, watching her grind onto another guy. "She said that I stole her first kiss."
"She can't be serious. It was fun and if she didn't enjoy it, then she is the problem." He says.
My eyes are on Elena. "Yeah, you're right."
"Of course I'm right,"
"But it's probably not that simple, every girl dreams about first kiss with boy they actually like." I add.
He sighs, facing me. "Did I mistake it or are you regretting it? If you are, why did you agree the bet?"
"Because we never say no to bets. It was fun, definitely." I sip my drink absolutely diverted. "Besides, I kind of wanted to kiss new girl. Especially after that." I murmur, looking at Elena.
"That's why you agreed so fast. Ooooh, now everything's clear, you found yourself pretty new toy, huh?" He laughs at that. "So what are you going to do? Make your girlfriend jealous of her? Elena isn't worth it, trust me."
"She's still my girlfriend." I roll my eyes.
"You're just obsessed bro. It's clear that you're not interested in her."
"She thinks it's love." I utter word with weird laziness.
"She doesn't give a shit if you love her or not as long as her boyfriend is rich and popular."
After last night all I think about is new girl. I don't even know her name, but fire inside her is something different. The way she argued with me on stage and how smart she is, everything alters my brain chemistry.
"She's all right," I say after finishing my sixth glass.
"Who?"
"New one, she keeps things interesting. Definitely good distraction object, as you said."
"All right? She's fire. And she's smart, how are you going to handle her rivalry, smart-ass?" His grin is wide, knowing what kind of show is awaiting him. "She's top student."
"Who's smart?" Elena jumps on my lap, her gaze darting between me and Dan. "Aren't you going to answer boys?"
"No one," I lie. "I bought you something." I give her small box. "Sometimes I get a bit possessive, I'm sorry."
She opens it as I watch her reaction. "That's... umm beautiful. Thank you." She kisses me on cheek clearly without any sign of gratitude.
"Is something wrong?"
"It's just... you couldn't find more basic gift than this pendant? It doesn't even look good. You can return it or do whatever you want, I guess. I won't be wearing something so..." Of course she didn't like it. "Oh honey, now you're angry with me. You know I love you right? And our love is big and strong, you just messed up, that's all. But I love you, don't forget that, okay?"
