Once I heard the drink had gin in it I pretended to finish drinking it before pouring it out the window. The butler brought me to the living room, where I told him everything at high speed. I didn't blame him, as I was worried about my own reactions.
"Please have a seat," the Butler said.
"Thank you, Mr…" I began.
"Griffin, Blake Griffin," he answered. I held back a gasp while he helped me into a chair. That was the name of the invisible man, and he was psychotic. Some of the stories behind him might have been incorrect, but I didn't want to take any chances. "The master and mistress will join you shortly. "
"I don't think that's necessary. I mean, their hands are pretty full with the whole Jekyll situation." The not-so-invisible man smiled at me before he walked away. I looked back every few seconds wondering if he would turn invisible with my back turned. “Well, once again, thank you," I said.
We shared a friendly glance before he nodded and vanished like the Cheshire cat, only leaving behind his smile inside my head, but I knew he was still there.
"Blake, we've told you not to turn invisible around guests." Alexandria said, walking in.
"My apologies, Mistress Greyback, but you never let me have any fun," Blake responded.
I heard his footsteps walk away and bump into the door briefly, which made me laugh. Alexandria shook her head and sighed heavily while Blake made himself visible again. He fell straight on his back, and Alexandria glared at him.
"I don't know how you're able to do that, but don't worry about Alexandria. He's managed to make me laugh,” I said.
Blake stood up and bowed to me as if I was some sort of princess or queen.
"Glad I could help,” he responded.
He adjusted his tie and gloves before leaving the room, this time leaving nothing behind.
"He did that on purpose, didn't he?" I asked.
“Oh, most definitely," Alexandria said.
Her facial expression twinged for a split second, as if she was about to laugh herself, but at the last second she sighed. "He is a mischievous character no doubt but has a good heart. That's why I hired him."
“Right, I'll pretend to know what that means. Hey, how did you get here so fast anyway?" I asked.
The red streaks in her hair appeared again, giving me my answer as she flipped it.
"Being a supernatural being has advantages, but the question is what happened to you?" she asked.
I panicked for a second, unsure if I should tell her about reading Hyde's journal, so I tried lying.
“Oh, you know, just getting lost in the manor," I said.
She shook her head in disapproval at me, and if I didn't know her I would have gulped.
“Yeah, that’s not going to work. I can hear your heartbeat, Clara. You can't lie to me," she responded.
Oh great, so much for that “just being a vampire” thing, I thought to myself before letting out a sigh of defeat.
“Well, thats creepy, but since I don't really have a choice, I'll tell you," I said. "I really did get lost, and I ended up stumbling across Hyde's room."
