Six months later
It was great to be back in my own time, even after everything that happened. There were still a few scars on my arm from where Moriarty grabbed me. The doctor I saw claimed it would heal soon, as no muscles were damaged. It was a bother to visit them every week when I had things to do. Though last time I skipped three appointments to catch up on writing. I ended not only with terrible pain but experienced visions that made knocked me over. My coworkers at the escape room ended up calling an ambulance. It seemed that everyone thought I was having a stroke or seizure.
"Remember not to strain yourself Ms. Holmes." A nurse said."Yeah I know take the meds, use an icepack, do my exercises and don't overwork." I responded. It was still amazing to think that Anna's descendant looked like her. As I was worried that all the time travel would have altered everything. I did manage to change a few things because it was impossible to not pull a back to the future. When I destroyed the red book to come back, it seems that I made my parents met earlier. As I not only came back to find them alive but I had two siblings as well. It should have been easy to talk with them, yet I wasn't sure what to say. At least I had Alex back with me to teach me how to interact with siblings. My thoughts were interrupted when the red headed woman smiled at me as I grabbed my purse. She noticed the engagement ring I had on my finger.
"So I have been curious about a few things Ma'am." she said.
I laughed a bit as this was a conversation I was used to. Everyone wondered why I had wrote a book about my experience and turned into an escape room. The only other question people asked me was who my fiancé was.
"Let me guess Emma you wanna know about either my book that inspired the escape room I started." I responded.
"Well yes I did really enjoy playing the mummy in your escape room the Savoy Hotel. But I was wondering how you came up with all those Victorian monsters and that story line?" Emma asked.I wished I could have seen the smile on my face.
"Oh it just came to me in a dream that was an unbelievable experience, same one that caused me to meet Edward." I said. She looked a bit concerned as to how I said it. As not everyone knew the truth behind all of my new friends. "Yes thats right the one named after the infamous Edward Hyde."
"He must really be a fan of your novel then since you changed the roles." Emma laughed.
"Well yes but no let's just say he and I have been through a lot." I said.
"You a quite a mystery Miss Holmes." she commented. I flipped my long black hair as she said that. Those were the last words spoken before I left the doctors office. I saw many texts and calls from Alex about she needed help at the escape room. It was her anniversary with Connor, so I told her to take the day off. All three of her kids were all wolfing about on the street. But of course she didn't. I texted back saying I'd come back soon I just needed to pay my respects. She sent me an annoyed emoji to tease me but then said she would wait. As I walked out I could see the nearby graveyard and I paid for some flowers.
After everything I had finally allowed myself to grieve for my parents. Maybe my origin wasn't what I thought but they still loved me regardless. I placed the roses on their headstones and shed a few tears."Mom, Dad you can rest easy now I was able to finish your mission. The darkness inside the red book is gone and no one will ever be tempted by it again." I said. "I'll be okay to, after everything I've learned I know I will be."
There was of course no response but I stayed there for awhile to pay my respects and prayed a bit. After I got up from kneeling I grabbed my last bouquet. There was one more grave I had to visit. One thing I wished I could have changed was what happened with Marina. While I stopped her from hurting anyone else. The red book had driven her crazy enough to jump off the waterfall anyways. I went over to gravestone and clutched the flowers in my hand. Time travel was weird like that but if I tried to explain my own head got sore. "Perhaps you will finally know peace as well sister."
I left the yellow roses there to finally forgive her for everything. I looked up and saw the sun shine in my face. The orange rays made me close my eyes as I took in the feeling of peace. For a minute I could picture the hotel I had been brought to then the manor. Before I opened my eyes again to look at the beautiful landscape. After that I breathed heavily and walked off to head back to work. There was only so much free time an author could have.
