Chapter 2: Hack And Escape

Melody jumped down from the vent, landing quietly. She took a breath, and started tapping on the computer. She tapped on the keyboard, making some noise, as she winced at the kind-of-loud noise. It was what Melody wasn't expecting. Crystal blinked as Melody typed furiously on the keyboard, her fury building up. Why can this thing not HURRY UP?! Melody thought as she focused on the click-clack, click-clack sound of the keyboard. Crystal shrugged at Cloudy as they exchanged glances. I don't think Melody is okay, Cloudy thought, as she chewed her fingernails.

'DONE!' Melody squealed excitedly, and then with widened eyes, she clamped her hand over her mouth, cringing as it echoed off the walls. Crystal hurriedly pulled Melody into the vent, as The Beast stomped in. Oh god, The Beast! Just in time! Cloudy sighed as she looked at Crystal blinking like she doesn't-know-what-to-do for the millionth time. Cloudy rolled her eyes.

'I SWEAR I SAW A KID ON THAT COMPUTER! PINK HAIR! WHERE IS SHE?! DID SHE GET SUCKED INTO A PORTAL OR SOMETHING?!' The Beast roared. The three sisters tried not to laugh, but Crystal couldn't keep it in... and let a 'haha!' sound. The Beast spun around and looked at them directly in the eye. They were dead. 'I WILL LATER CATCH YOU WHEN YOU GET OUT OF THE VENT-THING-WHATEVER!' The Beast roared as he stomped away, but his piercing and shivering gaze still on them. Melody shrugged, and whispered to her sisters to crawl through the vent, following each other, until the feeling of him staring at them started to wear off.

'Oh... I see an unused flashlight! There's some extra batteries next to it! Let's get it!' Melody looked relieved, finally able to get an object that produces light, so the vent wouldn't feel like an endless, creepy, and dark maze. Melody jumped down, bolted to the flashlight that was next to an unusable computer, and like a ninja, stealthily and quickly grabbed the items, and sprinted back at lightning speed like she was at the Olympics doing the final race, running the 42.195 kilometres/26 miles and 385 yards. She panted as she jumped high like a kangaroo back into the vent and SLAM! The vent door shut.

'You made it just in time!' Cloudy gave Melody a high five, grinning. Melody tried to smile, but it came out as a grimace since she felt like she was going to throw up after sprinting at her full speed.

They turned the flashlight on, and crawled through on a quest to find the next computer to hack. Crystal had a feeling of unease, as they went nearer and nearer to a bright light...
