Damien's POV
Hannah's rubbing the ring unconsciously, and I've noticed it keeps reflecting the light when she touches the wolf. I wonder when she started wearing this.
She coughed to get my attention and I shook my head, trying to clear it. Shit, I'm zoning out a lot. I don't know why that is.
A heavily muscled male stepped forward and bowed before us. When he rose, his cruel eyes met Hannah's emotionless ones. He sneered at her.
"My queen," he said, his voice echoing through the air. "Due to the presiding matter, we've agreed to meet before this time, but you abandoned us. You don't deserve that throne, you bitch. I'm the Alpha, so who the fuck are you to control us?"
Hannah sent him a cold glare, looking like she wanted nothing more than to kill him, but he continued, not even noticing. It didn't seem like he cared. He just smirked at her cruelly.
"We all gathered together to discuss this right under your fucking nose," the blonde continued almost gleefully.
Hannah's grip on my hand tightened until it was almost crushing as she tried not to fume with fury at the werewolf's cruel, mocking words.
"The best way to take over your throne, since you had a bunch of loyal dogs to protect you, is to get to your family. So we went to your grandparents to get to you. Because you would come running to us for help. And here we are," he says, his identity was hidden because he was in the crowd.
Hannah looked around before zoning in on him, and a dangerous gleam came to her eyes. I was so happy that the look wasn't aimed at me for once. She then held her hand up to shut him up.
"You got me there, Corey. You know what they say, 'keep your friends close but your enemies closer'. And I did. Because look at what happened, so I'm sorry, and I surrender the throne to you. Besides, I'm just a woman," she said nonchalantly, starting to stand up.
She offered me her hand, and I take it. I wanted to ask her what she was doing, but I kept my mouth shut. Her clear warning echoed in my mind and we walked down the steps together.
"The one rule we had was to never fight each other. So the throne is all yours now," she said to the menacing blond brute.
Corey smirked and gestured to Hannah, bringing everyone's attention to her.
"You all see, she's weak and pathetic. And now I'm going to watch you bow to me, and since I like you, I'll make you one of my mistresses, Hannah Spike," the so-called Corey taunted as he walked up the stairs with a girl who was probably his mistress.
She looked incredibly uncomfortable, her features set in a frown and hiding her face from view as they both take the throne.
Hannah walked over and bowed to him before glancing up at him.
"Are you forgetting something, my king?" she asked.
The silence is almost tangible. Everyone is just watching.
"I haven't forgotten anything, now bow to your King, you ungrateful bitch," he gloated, his arrogance on full display as he smirked at me triumphantly.
I can't help but think that this guy is incredibly ungrateful.
"I'm sorry, my king," Hannah said. "But a king doesn't rule his kingdom without anyone by his side. It's just like politics..."
"I get it, I get it," he interrupts dismissively. "My loyal friends, come out and join us."
A group of men and women come out to join him. There must be around twenty of them, although I didn't bother to count. I just did a rough estimate.
"These are my loyal subjects. So, it's up to you to become one or die. Either way, you don't have a choice. I'm the king now. Everything has changed," he proclaimed.
