MAXINE PEREZ . . . Loved to do things she wasn't allowed to do. Mainly going against her father was her favorite thing, with her long black hair flowing in the ocean breeze and her brown eyes sparkling with annoyance, strutted onto the sandy beach of the Outer Banks. She rocked an oversized white shirt that boldly proclaimed "fuck this," paired with a black bikini underneath. Deep down, she knew exactly what she got herself into. Max even debated with herself to stay in bed all day.
As Maxine strolled along the shoreline, her irritation growing, she spotted JJ amidst the crowd. Rolling her eyes, she approached him, arms crossed. JJ Maybank was– a player, a bad boy, a notorious flirt, and above all, a Pogue. And she wasn't thrilled about him being her surf instructor.
"JJ Maybank," she huffed, her voice dripping with exasperation. "You think I'm gonna let you teach me? I'm not doing this."
JJ flashed his signature smirk, undeterred by Maxine's resistance. "Come on," he pleaded, his voice oozing with charm. Running a hand through his blonde hair, showing off his abs.
The girl in front of him tilted her chin, as her brown eyes roamed over him. A laugh full of sarcasm ringing in the air, as she pointed a finger between them. "Yeah this," and then pointing a finger down his body. "And this, is not happening. I'm out of here," turning on her heel away from him.
Footsteps followed her, as she gazed back at him, cocking a brow. "I promise it'll be worth it. Let me show you what I've got." As he pointed a finger with his free hand at the ocean. Two other surfboards in his other hand.
Maxine hesitated for a moment, torn between her annoyance and a curious intrigue. Finally, she let out a sigh, giving in to the inevitable adventure that awaited her.
"Fine," she grumbled, a begrudging smile tugging at her lips. "But don't think for a second that I'll go easy on you, Maybank."
JJ grinned wolfishly at her, as she rolled her eyes while following after him.
As the sun kissed the horizon, casting a golden glow over the beach, Maxine stood at the water's edge, ready to conquer the waves. With a mischievous smile, she pulled off her oversized t-shirt, revealing a sleek black bikini that accentuated her pale, slightly tanned skin.
JJ couldn't help but admire Maxine's side profile as he adjusted his surfboard, preparing to teach her the art of riding the waves. He knew that beneath her fiery exterior, there was a determination that matched his own.
That's why the blonde was so determined, to do this. He wanted to know what hid behind all that make up and those snarky comments.
"Alright, Maxine," JJ started, his voice filled with excitement. "Today, we're gonna catch some waves together. Are you ready?"
Maxine nodded, her eyes sparkling with anticipation. "Absolutely, Maybank. Show me what you've got."
With that, they paddled out into the ocean, their boards gliding effortlessly through the water. JJ guided Maxine, teaching her the subtle art of balance and timing. As the waves approached, they both rose to their feet, riding the exhilarating surge of water.
Maxine's laughter echoed through the salty air as she found her rhythm, her body moving with the ebb and flow of the ocean. With each wave conquered, her confidence grew, and JJ couldn't help but be captivated by her spirit.
Together, they spent hours in the water, their laughter and shouts blending with the crashing waves. Maxine's determination and JJ's expertise intertwined, creating a bond that surpassed their initial assumptions.
As the sun began to set, casting a warm orange glow over the sea, Maxine and JJ returned to the shore, their bodies tired but hearts full. They sat side by side, their surfboards resting in the sand, "And?" He asked.
