Olivia and João had been talking for a few weeks and they both started to get more comfortable with one another. Olivia had started to develop feelings for João and decided she wanted to surprise him.
She was currently on a flight to London, where she planned to watch him play. He had been on a suspension due to a red card he received on his debut for about a month, and Olivia decided that she wanted to let him know how she felt about him in person at his first match back.
Once she landed, she grabbed her things and took a taxi to her hotel. She unpacked her things and threw herself onto her bed. She looked at the time on her phone, 09:00. She decided to get up and start getting ready for the game, which started at 12:00. After getting ready, she got into a cab and headed off to London Stadium.
The stadium took her breath away. She never grew up watching sports of any kind, including football, so this atmosphere was definitely different to her. Although it wasn't a red carpet, she still enjoyed the sight of it.
She walked into the stadium and found her seat, which was pretty close to the pitch. She watched as the players started to come out and start to warm up. Unfortunately, Chelsea started warming up on the opposite side of which she was sat at. Before kickoff started, Olivia had a few people recognize her and ask for pictures, which she kindly agreed too.
As she sat back down, she couldn't help but smile. She never expected her name to be known in other countries. Olivia was soon snapped out of her thoughts once the ref blew his whistle.
Olivia was enjoying the game, and in the 9th minute, Joao scored! He scored with a rebound but it was soon ruled offsides. Luckily 7 minutes later, he scored, for real this time! She jumped up from her seat and cheered loudly.
As he was running to the corner to celebrate, he made eye contact with her and smiled. Before he ran back to his position, he looked at her and did his iconic celebration, letting her know that it was all for her.
The rest of the game was a bit rocky. Chelsea held the lead for a bit and Kai Havertz even scored a second goal in the 22th minute, but it ruled as offsides again. They were still able to hold West Ham at 1-0 until they scored and tied the game in the 28th minute. Both teams weren't able to gain a lead and the final score ended up being 1-1.
Once the game ended, she headed down to the first row of seats to talk to him. He ran up to her and hugged her tightly. "You didn't tell me you were coming?!" "I wanted to surprise you!" "Well I'm so glad you're here!" He hugged her again. "How about you go wait out by the front and I'll meet you up there, yeah?" "Okay I'll see you out there. Don't ghost me though!" She pointed a finger at him and started to walk out the stadium as she heard him laugh behind her.
After a few minutes of waiting, she finally saw Joao start walking towards her. She ran up to him and hugged him again. "It's so weird seeing you in person, you know? I'm so used to looking at your face through the phone, nothing more." He laughed and let go from her embrace. "So what are you doing in London? What made you fly all the way from the states to here?" She shrugged her shoulders. "To surprise you! And I needed to tell you something that would be better said in person." "Oh is that so? Well what exactly was it that you needed to tell me, hm?" He brushed her hair out of her face and tilted his head to look at her. "How about I tell you over dinner?" She smirked and look at him. "You can take me to your favorite restaurant, and I'll tell you there." "Okay, deal." "But please make sure you change first." She laughed and started to walk towards the cab that was waiting for her. "I'll text you my hotel address, pick me up by seven." She yelled over her shoulder. "Deal, see you at seven then, linda." He walked away and he left her speechless. She smiled to herself as she got into the cab.

a/n: so what do we think of this chapter?? they've finally met after knowing each for like less than a month. 💀 but anyways... this chapter was actually kinda fun to write, even though it took like an hour and a half. i had writers block and kept on getting distracted but its ok, i got the story out. but i hope you guys enjoyed it and i hope you have a good rest of your day/night. ily! <3
