As the group tried to stay as quiet as possible, they held their breath, hoping the monster would pass them by. But Ben's sneeze shattered the silence, and the creature's attention snapped back to them. The monster's grotesque face turned in their direction, and fear gripped their hearts as it slowly approached.

With bated breath, they watched as the monster sniffed the air, its senses alert to their presence. Then, it suddenly shifted its gaze to the right, towards the shore, and bolted away in that direction. Relief washed over the group, but they wondered where the creature was headed.

Bella couldn't help but tease her younger brother, "You almost got us killed, Ben!" she said, half-jokingly and half-frightened.

As Eric and Stan looked towards the direction the monster had run off to, they heard a scream that sent chills down their spines. The voice belonged to Rio, and without hesitation, Stan rushed towards the source of the scream, his instincts driving him to help his friend.

"Quick, follow Stan!" Eric shouted at the group, his fear causing him to act harshly. He had been terrified of getting separated from the group, and now, with the monster on the loose, he wanted everyone to stay together.

The group hurriedly made their way back to the shore, where they found Rio on the ground, clutching his head in pain. Eric asked him what had happened, and Rio explained how they had almost escaped the woods, only to be caught by the monster. Stan, after witnessing something in the woods, had run off without a word, leaving Rio behind.

As Rio recounted his experience, they heard Beth's terrified screams in the distance. Stan, who had reached Rio first, looked towards the north, the direction the screams were coming from, and saw the horrifying sight of the monster dragging Beth away by a rope.

Filled with fury and determination, Stan ran towards the creature, intent on rescuing Beth from its clutches. The rest of the group, terrified and unsure of what to do, stayed with Rio. Betty, on the verge of tears and filled with fear for her sister, crumbled to the sand, feeling helpless and hopeless in the darkness of the night.

Nancy desperately called out for Bella, hoping to find her sister among the group. But there was no response. Bella seemed to have disappeared during the chaos, and the thought of something else lurking in the woods only added to their terror.

As they tried to process the events of the night, fear and uncertainty gnawed at their hearts. The haunted woods seemed to hold endless horrors, and they didn't know how much longer they could endure.

Time passed in an agonizing blur, each moment stretching on forever as they waited for Stan to return with Beth. The night was far from over, and the dangers that lurked in the darkness showed no sign of relenting.
