"SO YOU ARE GOING ON A DATE ALREADY?" Seokmin screamed, his face lit up with excitement.
"Min, can you say it normally?" Jeonghan said, his face turning red with embarrassment. That's when Seokmin looked around and noticed people staring at them with irritated expressions. They were in a public restaurant. Seokmin faked a cough and lowered his voice.
"So, you are going on a date tomorrow?"
"It's not a date, according to him," Jeonghan snorted.
"But it is, right?"
"Well, technically it is."
"Jeonghan, are you sure you both are on the same page?"
"What do you mean?" Jeonghan raised an eyebrow.
"I mean, you both are pretty casual about it, right? Or are you really planning to date someone—"
"Min, you know I'm not really over Seungcheol. That guy is the only one I ever loved and I still do. I may go on a thousand dates, but I still dream about him every night."
"But your story... it isn't giving me good feelings, Han. I feel this friend of yours may or may not have a serious crush on you. So just for his own sanity, talk to him about it. Don't play with someone else again."
"I won't dare, Min. I got such a big karma for Aerum."
"So that's why. Be clear on that. Don't repeat the same mistake."
Jeonghan nodded. Seokmin was right. The whole drama with Seungcheol and Aerin was nothing but the karma of his own deeds with Aerum. And he was still dealing with the effects of it, so he didn't want to repeat it and invite more drama into his life.
"But how is she, anyway? Did you talk to Chan?" Jeonghan asked, his voice tinged with concern.
Seokmin slowly nodded. "I did. Chan said she convinced her parents that you two couldn't adjust to your new life together, so you got divorced by mutual consent."
"You mean she took the blame?" Jeonghan's eyes widened in surprise.
"She took half of the blame. Her parents were angry, but there wasn't much they could do by the end of the day."
"And did Chan do something to help?"
"Well, yeah. Chan is his colleague now, and he's trying his best to console her since Aerum is a bit upset."
"A bit upset? You mean she's not that upset?" Jeonghan asked, incredulous.
"Honestly, no. According to Chan, she's okay with the divorce, but she hates you for the way you treated her on the last day. I guess she somewhat knew your relationship wasn't working too, so she might have wanted it to end before you both got stuck in it."
Jeonghan looked out the window, the sky painted with hues of twilight. He smiled softly, feeling a huge burden lift from his shoulders. He knew what he did to Aerum was still wrong, but the fact that the divorce was somewhat a mutual manifestation made him feel a bit relieved. As a person, he liked Aerum; she was the nicest person on earth, and Jeonghan wanted all the happiness for her. He just hoped Chan could treat her the way she truly deserved, unlike how he had treated her.
"You know," Jeonghan said, turning back to Seokmin, "I always wanted her to be happy. I hope Chan can give her that."
"Chan is a good guy. He cares about her a lot. I'm sure he'll treat her well," Seokmin reassured him.
