Eliza's POV:

"What the fuck!?"

To be honest, I wasn't sure how I was going to explain my current situation to her. I mean, how do you tell your best friend that you're being fed on by a vampire? Willingly? With consent from both parties? Oh well here goes nothing...

"Hey, Noah," I said, trying to sound casual. "This is Calliope, my new friend. She's a vampire."

Noah gasped and took a step back. "A what now?! Eliza, are you insane? Are you being attacked?" she said, her eyes wide with terror.

I tried to explain the situation calmly. "No, no, it's not what it looks like!  she's really nice."

Noah isn't having it, though. She grabbed a kitchen knife from the counter and started waving it around like a maniac. Calliope got up from my lap and sat beside me, looking bored, while I tried to calm Noah down.

"Look, I'm just trying to help her. She needs a bit of blood to heal, but it's not like she's going to hurt me or anything. She's really sweet, honestly."

Noah's eyes widened and she took a step forward, fear written all over her face. "Eliza, are you crazy?! She's a vampire! She's feeding on you!"

Noah pointed the knife straight at Calliope and put on a bravado. "Y-you! Get away from her or I will be forced to use this knife on you!" She demanded, a slight quiver in her voice. My eyes widened at the realization that Noah is currently threatening a vampire.

I quickly looked beside me and saw how Calliope's eyes narrowed. Without thinking I grabbed her arm and looked at her, pleading silently for my best friend's life. Calliope didn't look at me but I felt her relax underneath my touch.

"Look, I'm trying my best to be polite here, but if you move that knife a centimeter closer to me, I will tear you apart." Calliope told Noah with a sweet but terrifying smile on her face, a bit of my blood dripping on the corner of her mouth, making her look predatory and so goddamn hot.

"Noah, please just put the knife down," I urged, desperately hoping she would listen. Noah took a hesitant step back, her eyes not leaving Calliope for a second. Reluctantly, she lowered the knife, her hands trembling.

I sighed in relief and leaned back on the couch, I glanced at Calliope for a moment but on the corner of my eye I could see rapid movement. My eyes widened as Noah charged towards us with a determined look on her face. "Noah, what are you doing?!" I shrieked, half in panic and half in confusion. But it was too late. In one swift motion, Noah held up the knife and plunged it into Calliope's chest.

The room fell silent for a split second, interrupted only by the sound of the knife embedding itself into Calliope. And then, Calliope simply removed the knife, as if plucking out a pesky splinter from her skin. The wound closed up instantly, leaving no trace of the attack. Then she smiled, "Was that supposed to hurt?"

"Noah, you idiot!" I exclaimed, trying to keep the mixture of relief and annoyance out of my voice. "You can't just stab people!"

Noah's eyes widened and her face went pale. A sudden realization seemed to crash over her like a tidal wave. Without another word, she stumbled backward and promptly passed out, hitting the floor with a thud. I sighed, wondering how I always managed to find myself in these absurd situations. Turning towards Calliope, who is now wiping imaginary dirt off her shoulder, I couldn't help but chuckle in disbelief.

"Well, that was quite the show," she mused, a mischievous twinkle in her eyes. "I must admit, Noah's attempt at heroism was rather adorable, albeit misguided." Relief washed over me as I realized Calliope wasn't angry or hurt. In fact, she seemed to be quite entertained by the whole ordeal. Trust Calliope to find amusement in nearly being stabbed through the heart. "You sure you're okay?" I asked, my hand hovering over her chest before I put it back down.
