Rant #1: YouTube: The Amount of Coming Out Videos

Word Count: 545
~~~
Recently a YouTuber called Ingrid Nelson or Missglamorazzi came out and whilst watching her 'Coming Out' video I read some of the comments. To say the least most of them were not nice. People keep saying that the amount of YouTubers coming out is absurd. They think it's for attention. What if all the other YouTubers coming out just encouraged others to follow suit? That's not 'copying' that's working up the courage with the inspiration of others. I think its so inspirational that so many people share a very big part of their lives with us; viewers. They could just treat us like the numbers on the screen that we are, or they could treat us like family (which so many of them do) and tell us things that mean something to them. Say your favorite gay ship came out dating. Would you still act the same? 'Oh, they're just coming out for attention!' Instead of getting worked up about it be thankful that someone puts enough trust in you, someone they've never met, to tell you about the biggest, most times hardest, and sometimes most important part of their life. If you don't particularly watch or like that YouTuber then why not just go to another video? Ignore it completly? I'm sure it hurts when you get tore down by an anon hater who doesn't know the real you. It can hurt to see so many mean comments. Most of Ingrid's comment section on that video was hate. I only saw a few good ones; for the good ones I was thankful. Even though I don't really watch Ingrid I still find it great that she had the courage to do that. What about other people who recently came out? Like Joey Graceffa? Joey's video got so much great feed back. Now while that is good thing, what about Ingrid what makes her any different? Is it because she's a girl that likes other girls instead of a guy liking other guys? Is it her fan base? Is her fan base just not supportive? Joey got comments from proud subscribers saying that they'll always stick with him and Ingrid did the same thing he did and got called an 'attention whore'. Joey got shipped with loads if other guys and praised, while Ingrid gets critized and judged. How about Connor Franta? Was he the one who started this wild courage trend? He got praised and shipped and loved. How does that make sense?! Just because Ingrid is a girl (which seems to be the 'problem') doesn't mean its any different.
Put yourself in her situation and tell me: would you want to be supported and loved just the same or to be judged and hated in the oh-so daunting comment section?
The comment section shouldn't be so scary. Actually it shouldn't be scary at all besides the teeny bit creepy shippers (who we all come to love in the end) and the people who find strange and/or wonderful screen freezes in the video and comment the minute and second you should pause at.
Think about how much sense that makes.
