"She's waking up! Hurry get the doctor!"
I groaned and opened my eyes. Everything was bright and white. I looked around and realized I was in a hospital bed. My head was throbbing and I felt sick.
"What happened?""You fainted from a heat stroke. If it wasn't for the guy working on the construction site you'd be dead." A nurse told me.
I frowned. Construction worker? I don't remember seeing anyone at the site.
"How long was I out for?""You've been unconscious for a little over 5 hours."
I gasped and covered my mouth. No way. How could I be unconscious for 5 hours?
"Is it almost dismissal time for the kids?"
The nurse smiled and said, "No, sweetie. You have plenty of time to rest. Don't worry." I sighed. That's good.
"Do you have any family or friends that we can call?"I shook my head and looked around. "No, I live alone. Just my son and me." The nurse frowned and said, "Oh. Well if you need anything just press the button and we'll be right here. For now I want you to rest."
I stopped the nurse "Do you happen to know if the construction guy is still around?" She thought for a moment then shook her head.
"No, he left an hour ago. He was worried about you and asked if we could contact him if anything changed."
"Did he leave a number or name?" The nurse frowned.
"No sorry."I nodded. "Okay. Thanks." She left the room and I tried to lay down. After a while I couldn't. I pressed the button for a nurse. She came back and asked me what I needed.
"I need my phone and clothes please."
She didn't argue. She went to the closet and pulled out my stuff. She set it down beside me and told me to call if I needed her again.I got dressed and headed out of the hospital. The fresh air was nice and the sun was going down. It was almost 4 o'clock and I still had to pick Jeongin up.
I rushed to the school and waited outside the doors. All the kids came out with their bags and their parents. After a minute Jeongin came out. He looked scared and his face lit up when he saw me.
"Ya-ya! You're here!"
He ran and jumped in my arms.
"Yup! Did you have fun today?"
"Mhmm. Ms. Wang was nice."
I smiled and kissed his cheek.
"That's great. Let's go home."
He nodded and we began to walk. On the way home I told him about me being in the hospital.
"I got a bit dizzy and fainted. The doctors say I'm okay now. So no worries."
"Were you hurt mommy?"
"No. I just passed out. It happens to people sometimes. It was hot today."
He frowned. "But why were you dizzy?"
I thought for a moment and then said, "Maybe I was dehydrated. I didn't drink enough water.""You shouldn't do that again mommy. I was really scared when Ms. Wang called me and said that you weren't feeling well."
"I'm sorry Jeonginnie." He pouted and didn't say anything else. When we got home I set Jeongin down and said, "Okay. Go wash your hands and face. Dinner will be ready soon."
He nodded and rushed off to the bathroom. I smiled and looked through the fridge. I ended up making ramen and chicken nuggets.
Jeongin liked them both so I wasn't sure why I had a feeling he wouldn't.
I set the food down and yelled, "Innie! Food is ready!"
He came running and sat down at the table."Can you help me cut the noodles? I'm not big enough."
"Of course."I cut the noodles for him and sat down. He grabbed his fork and began eating. I smiled and took a bite of my food.
Jeongin stopped eating and looked at me.
"Mommy."
I stopped and looked at him.
"Yes?"
"You have a bruise on your arm."
