"The kid won't be waking up anytime soon." Jean said, she tap and tap and tap onto the screen of a monitor as Roux was lying on a healthcare bed.
He was unconscious, full of scars and bruise. And forgot to mention his eyes are basically bleed from the inside.
His shirt was removed but the lower clothing was still on. His upper body was a sore sight to see.
Charles looked at Roux, he felt synpathy for the boy. Roux was at least breathing fine, other than that was otherwise.
Severe broken bones, damaged muscle tissues, tendons, etc.
The lab was equipped with the latest technologies but for some eeason the healing process was slow. A man cannot rely too much on technologies and second chances or short cuts in life.
"The child had been through worse." Commented Xavier, he made his way to him. "I can't get into his mind."
Jean glances at the professor, "Why?"
"I don't know. It must be his powers."
"His power nulls yours?"
"Possibly."
"But that wasn't really what I wanted to ask." She spoke.
Charles looked at her.
Jean continued to speak, "
They suddenly heard the heart rate monitor beeped rapidly, Jean looked back at the screen.
"We're losing him." Jean voiced with a concern.
Xavier wheelchaired his way where Jean was, "Run the scanner."
Jean did what she was told before started scanning Roux.
A large screen was displayed next to the heart monitor.
His heart was displayed on its side, beating faster. There was also a notif of internal bleeding.
"Resolve this at once, Jean."
"I'm trying!"
Mechanical robot hands were start doing their job.
But that wasn't enough.
A single line appeared on the monitor with a long ringing sound.
Jean stopped dead in her track. Seeing a live person died on his death bed, he was still young.
Charles laid his head forward, facing Roux. There were still a few seconds before the soul leaves the body. He tried using his telepathy once more on the boy but suddenly got shot back with an intense headache.
Charles shook his head, trying to fight off the pain.
"Are you okay, Professor?!" Jean asked, panicked at the sight that Charles was in discomfort.
...
Roux was surrounded by white lights, but he could see his surroundings. The landscape, the grassfield, the running river. There was a house in the distance, it looked like a mansion.
The house was familiar to Roux, he had seen this place before. He looked at his attire, it was all white from top to bottom.
He doesn't have his mask and his doesn't look like shit. The place where he stood was a field of white roses. The roses looked unreal, it was marvelous to look at.
He began to walk to the house. But as he gets closer, the house gets farther away. He ran, the house was already in the horizon.
The house was engulfed by the bright white lights, but Roux didn't stop. He ran as fast as he could, he was flashed by the lights before everything went dark.
