hello.

this is by far the easiest book i have ever written. this story is based on a friendship that one of my friends and i had with a very special person this past summer. we all live in different states, so we've since had to separate and return to our daily lives.

in the few days before this occurred, i wrote down all of these free verse poems. they're more like really short passages that tell the story of what was and what could be. it evokes comfort and the probability of reuniting, which was something i badly hope for with everyone from this summer.

the person for whom this book was specifically written changed me in so many way. i'm less critical of people and more understanding of the fact that people are flawed but that's what makes them so beautiful. he taught me how to open up to people again and ultimately how to love somebody in that way again. he also taught me to love myself more, to value who i am as a person and appreciate what i have to offer the world. he was kind, giving, hilarious, indefinitely goodhearted, with the best of intentions known to man. even with the distance and the timing of this within my life, i couldn't be more grateful to have known him.

i was scared to publish this, nervous that people would start to read it and know me better than i wanted them to. but, after much consideration, i think it's only fair to give this book a shot. so, i hope it finds someone who really needs it and helps you heal the way it's helped me heal.
