The long awaited return of The Worthwhile Future... is here!!!!
Leave me some love. Shit's about to get real!
Madison kept the kids for the rest of the day for Anna. She laid in bed and did nothing but cry. Some of the time I laid next to her while others I felt like I was adding to her burden and I would go out into the living room. I found myself in this precarious position. I felt like she needed me but I didn't feel like I belonged here.
Around 6pm I decided that no matter what, I needed to get Anna up and out of bed. Crying her eyes out all day wasn't going to improve her situation and to my knowledge she hadn't even eaten.
"Anna." I called out for her into the dark bedroom. There was no answer. It was then that I realized that she was asleep. I smiled and pulled the blankets over her and kissed her on the forehead. I'd let her sleep and step out to get her some dinner. I didn't want to go making a disaster in her kitchen.
I stopped along Madison's place along the way.
"Hey Andy." She smiled at me as she opened the door.
"Hey." She offered me to come inside. "How is she?" She was so concerned.
"Sleeping. She's been crying all day." I sat down on the couch.
"I am worried about her. What's going to happen now?" I could tell Madison wasn't just worried about Anna but herself as well, which was to be expected. The studio was how Madison paid for her bills as well.
"Everything is going to be fine. Anna mentioned about the business having insurance and I am sure it will be up and running in no time. I can't see her having it any other way." She smiled at me. She knew I was telling the truth.
"What about for the two of you?" I was waiting for that question.
"I honestly don't know. I still feel this wall between her and I. She's so guarded and for the life of me I just don't know why."
"Have you guys talked about what's going to happen next?"
"I think we were about to get to that point when this whole thing happened. I can't in good conscience bring that up while she has all this on her plate."
"Maybe it would help." He put her hand on top of mine.
"I can't see how." I moved my hand from under hers. I felt awkward. I barely know Madison.
"Maybe she would feel like she wouldn't be going through this alone. You know, unity and all that." I nodded. I saw her point.
I looked up and there was Alanna. Her blue eyes narrowed at me. I could see her studying me. It was just as her mother had said. I smiled at her and she looked stunned.
"What do you need sweetheart?" Madison cooed to her. Before either one of us could say anything else, Alanna ran back into the room she'd exited from.
"I think she hates me." I sighed.
"Alanna is a strange child but I don't think she hates you." Madison chuckled. "You have to understand what she has seen men do to her mother. Greg fights with her in front of the children and I pretty sure there has been more than just that. There have been unexplainable bruises and things that Anna just shrugs off and says it's nothing. I remember a bruise on Anna's face that happened right before the whole thing with Derek. I am pretty sure that came from Greg." I clinched my fist thinking about it. I remember her telling me she was just clumsy. I was foolish to believe that. Deep down I knew it was more than that. "Alanna isn't used to her mother being involved with anyone. She hasn't dated at all. She'll warm up. You just need to always show her the best of you and never the worse. She needs to know she can trust you."
