Hours and hours go by. Police officer after police officer comes into inspect the area. Detectives come and ask me more questions than I could possibly remember. For a while I began to feel like I was a suspect. My Ann was missing and all they wanted to know was what we had for breakfast that morning. Who the fuck cares. First her studio gets ransacked now this... why? What did Anna ever do to deserve this?

"So tell me about her husband?" This is the third time I have had to explain this to someone.

"It's her ex-husband." I snarl. "There is an ongoing child abuse investigation being against him over their mutual child."

"What do you know about their relationship?" This was thankfully a new question.

"I know it wasn't good. They argued all the time."

"Do you think he's did this?"

I'd break his fucking neck if he had anything to do with this.

"I don't know, why don't you all fucking leave my girlfriend's apartment and go ask him? It's been hours since she's gone missing and all you guys are doing is asking me these stupid questions when you could be out looking for her." I pound my fists on the table.

"Mr. Biersack we know you're upset but believe me when I tell you that any and all information you share gets us closer to an answer."

I sank my head into my hands. I knew they were right but I didn't know any more than what they did. With Greg behind bars I didn't know who would want to hurt Anna. Maybe Greg had a friend on the outside?

It got late and really... really late. Around midnight the police finally left. Madison come by and I told her that I would look after the kids after the police left and I would come and get them to bring them home. I wasn't their mother but I was going to do the best I could in her place.

"Do they know anything yet?" Madison had been crying for hours. I could just tell. I shook my head no and wrapped my arms around her shoulder. "Tell me they're going to find her." She sobbed.

"They are going to." I held Madison's face in my hands so she'd look at me. "They are going to find her alive." I reassured her. Truthfully I had no idea but I held the faith that Anna would come home safe.

Derek was still up and he packed up the book he was reading. Alanna was out cold sleeping in Madison's bed. I picked her up and cradled her close to me. This was the closest I'd ever been to my daughter. She stirred in her sleep and wrapped her arms around my neck. I froze, afraid that she would wake up and see me. I wasn't exactly Alanna's favorite person yet. She calmed down and settled back down to sleep. I carried her back out into the living room.

"You ready Derek?" He nodded drowsily. The poor kids were just wiped out. They had a very long emotional day just like the rest of us.

"Andy." Madison smiled sweetly at me.

"Yeah?" I rubbed Alanna's back gently.

"You really look great holding a baby." She flirted. Truth be told it made me a little uneasy. This was not the time for this.

"Good night Madison." I rolled my eyes at her. I hoped she was just trying to lighten the mood .

"Good night Derek." I gestured the young man to bed and started walking with Alanna towards her room. I crouched down by her bed and laid her slowly down in her as not to wake her. She rolled onto her side and brought her knees to hurt chest. Just like Anna. My heart constricted. I brushed the hair out of her face and pressed my lips onto her temple.
