"We lost Fiker to Tolliver Publishing. Anyone want to tell me how that happened?" One of the old fucks from the finance departments asked angrily.
Every time we have this weekly conference meeting, he brings up the worst of what happened. Never the best. Yes, we lost Fiker, but we gained three prominent authors who left a failing publishing house.
Terrick, his name is. I never really talk to him in these meetings. He likes to bring up the fact that I'm married to Zeus. Every chance he gets, he tries to get me to amidst to helping Zeus still business. Which I haven't been doing, but I can't convince him of that.
Achilles never tries to defend me, which just pisses me off more.
"Hades got to her. We can't sue because Fikers contract with us was already ending. Hades got her when we were supposed to convince them to sign on for another year." Achilles looked down at the documents in front of her. "Don't worry. They are having issues with an author who is going crazy. They have their hands full. Fiker will soon realize her mistake."
"Doubtful," I say aloud. Everyone looked at me. "Tolliver has things in place to help them when an author doesn't corporate. They have money put aside and a media PR team on it. I guarantee this whole thing with their drug addict author will be resolved with zero backlash."
I know Zeus and Hades enough to know they are working hard to resolve that author's issues.
Terrick frowned at me like I said something wrong, but everything I said was correct.
"Handle it. Brysin's can't afford to lose anyone else. Gaining three when we lost a huge hit isn't good for PR. People will gossip, and shit will hit the fan quickly." he smiled at me. "You know how bad gossip can ruin something good, can't you, Hera?"
Bitch!
I smiled back, "I'll see what I can do about the gossip, Terrick."
He stood up, so everyone followed suit. "Good, I need to see the game plan in three days. We will not lose to Tolliver's. Not if I can help it."
He walked out, everyone but Achilles following him.
It's fucking ridiculous how I am above him, and yet he's allowed to talk down to me.
Achilles looked at me, tapping her pen on the conference table. "It gets better, having your employees talk to you like they own the place."
I narrowed my eyes at her, crossing my hands over my chest. "You are the boss. You have the final word. Yet you allow them to treat you like scum. I get that bosses now want to seem like they are friendly, but you have to do so in a way that they don't walk over you. Zeus has managed that. I feel as that you should see to it as well."
I closed my work folder, moving to get up when she spoke up.
"You like women who can be bossy?" She asked with a smile.
I sighed and rolled my eyes. "I like when Zeus is bossy. It fits her, and it works for her company. I see you don't have that in you."
I walk out of the conference room before she can respond.
I have a lot of work to do, apparently. Gonna be a late night in the office.
