*Robert's POV*
I watched Lauren leave my classroom. I opened my mini fridge and pulled out my lunch. I was opening my soda when Lauren walked back in.
"Soda's bad for you." She commented sitting at her desk, pulling out her lunch.
"Yea, smoking is too but I do both." I shrugged smiling at her. "So tell me who is Lauren Rogers?"
"Huh? What do you mean Mr. Downey?"
"Call me Robert when we're not around people. Mr. Downey makes me feel old. I mean what is your thing? I know most of my students from last year or older siblings but, I have no idea about your life Lauren. So, I ask again who is Lauren Rogers?"
"Well my dad is a general in the Marines. I'm a dancer and I love to act. I'm pretty boring actually."
I nodded. "What about your mother?"
"No idea where she is. She took off when I was younger, I was a year old. My Dad and Nana raised me." Lauren shrugged.
I nodded slowly. "Sorry, I asked."
"Don't worry about it. I don't remember her."
"So you said your dad's a Marine?"
Lauren nodded. "Yup, he's been in now for eighteen years. He loves it."
"What base are you guys at? Or do you not live on base?" I questioned biting into my apple.
"Oh yea, we live on base. He's stationed at Fort Hamilton."
"Do you like it?"
Lauren rolled her eyes and shrugged. "It's ok I guess. My favorite base was Fort Carson. The mountains were beautiful."
"Yes, Colorado is beautiful." Lauren's mouth dropped open in surprise. "I know a few bases. My brother-in-law is in the army." I laughed at Lauren's surprise.
"So, Robert why are you asking about me?"
I shrugged. "I wanted to get to know more about you."
"Well am I allowed to ask you questions?" Lauren twirled a strand of her curly red hair around her index finger.
"Sure, ask away." I pulled out a napkin and wiped my hands.
"Ok, let's see first question. How old are you?"
"Thirty five and you?"
"Sixteen as of this past Saturday. Favorite thing to do?"
