DJ had caught wind of an upcoming battle from Electroshocker, who was surprisingly nervous about it.
He was just about to walk into the lobby until a hand grabbed him and pulled him to the side. To his surprise, it was Electroshocker. He was panting and sweating as if he just ran a mile.
"Are you oka—" The smaller man put a finger to his mouth.
"I was passing by Commander's office, and he was talking with Medic. He told her that we will be fighting Fallen again."
DJ cocked a brow. Through the finger tightly pushed against his lips, DJ said, "Yeah? We've fought him before. It shouldn't be that bad." Electroshocker quickly shook his head in response.
"No, no. You don't get it, DJ. Haven't you heard? Fallen's got some stronger goons now. He's made a deal with a guy named Void Reaver and now they're like— ten times stronger. Even the abnormal zombies are worse. It's bad."
"Who the hell is Void Reaver?"
"He's the big guy. Leader of all those bosses we've fought. Molten, Gravedigger, Fallen King...all of them. I'm sure he's pissed." Electro frowned, which was so unlike him, it genuinely irked DJ. This had to be bad. "Don't tell anybody I said this. Commander sounded pretty damn stressed himself." His voice was low and honestly pretty scary sounding.
"What else did you hear?" He leaned in closer, eyes flickering with growing worry. "You had to have heard more, right?"
"I had to run before Commander caught me but, most I heard was something along the lines of," Electroshocker held up his hands to mock quotation marks, "'I can't have us take a loss this major.' And then I ran. I didn't hear Medic reply or anything."
DJ swallowed thickly, a heavy feeling of dread formed in his gut. "I see." He stumbled over his words for a bit. "W-Well, do you know when the next battle is? Or at least a rough estimate? Dude, I'm not sure our team's weapons are that strong to take these advancements."
He received a solemn shrug. "No clue. I'll let you know if I find more info. Sorry for dropping that bombshell but, I really had to tell someone. You're the best guy I know." Understanding, DJ patted Electroshocker's shoulder a bit, sending him a soft smile.
"I'm sure we will be okay. Comm's a smart guy. I bet he's figuring it out right now, yeah?"
"Yeah..."
"Chin up, man!" DJ hid his own worry with a grin. He knew if he was upset, it would likely make Electroshocker's worry worse. "If you ever need anything, feel free to stop by me to talk about it." Electroshocker smirked back, a familiar shit-eating grin that made relief wash over him.
"Thanks. You know, you could make a better leader than Commander. He's too tough for my liking." DJ rolled his eyes playfully.
"I'd ruin this team in record time. Commander is good as our boss. He's actually pretty neat." The look of amusement forming on Electro's face was ominous. "Don't give me that look. What are you going to say?"
Electroshocker stepped back a bit from DJ, hands lifting behind his head. "Oh nothing."
"Electro."
"I'm just thinking, you know, you seem to praise Commander a lot more than everyone else does. It's a little suspicious, don't you think?"
Exasperated, DJ groaned. "Electro, come on. Everyone already thinks we have something going on but we don't!" He rubbed his face. "So what if I throw a few compliments here and there? He's our leader!"
"Scout doesn't compliment him nearly as much as you doooo!~" Electroshocker was behaving like some schoolgirl who found out her best friend had a crush. DJ was flustered, yet he didn't show it. The smaller man bumped DJ, waggling his brows.
