A day or two since then, DJ found himself getting to know a majority of his teammates.
New and old members were all sitting in what was called the lobby room (DJ found that interesting...it was really just a living room to be honest).
DJ, for one, was sitting on the couch, listening to someone blabber about how hot it was outside during training. He'd heard a lot about how miserable and painstakingly long training was — it was beginning to make DJ anxious for when the time came he had to do it as well.
Anyway.
He and a few others exchanged tidbits of their lives. Some important, some less than important. It was expected. DJ didn't actually mind getting to know his team. It was like a fun puzzle on figuring out who was friends with who and such.
Yet, in his time getting to know everyone, he was still left in the dark about his leader...
From what he heard, everyone knew very little about Commander. Even those who had been on the team longer than anyone else were not any more or less knowledgeable about the man than the others.
However, there were really only two towers in the whole team who were close enough with him: Commander's older sister, who DJ was shocked to learn it was that older looking woman he saw earlier, and one of the youngest members on the team. He was told the kid's name was Scout or something like that.
According to a spindly guy he met, he called himself Electroshocker, Commander treats Scout like his own kid. He told DJ this, word for word, "If Commander was to choose favorites, it would definitely be Scout. He's practically Commander's son and he knows it. Scout always runs to Boss when we tease him."
DJ cocked a brow at that. "Huh. Commander doesn't seem like the type of guy to have that kind of bond with someone." Electroshocker simply shrugged.
"Eh, all of us thought the same too. Scout is quite proud of it. We hear about it frequently..." He leaned back and kicked his legs up on the very beaten up coffee table in front of him. "I'm honestly surprised you haven't bumped into him yet. He's quite hard to miss."
"Really? Well, damn. Maybe I need to up my game!" He joked, which earned a soft snort from Electro.
"He usually hangs around Minigunner. Those two, oh man, they're practically inseparable!"
Minigunner was a new one. DJ silently noted it down. "Who's that?"
"He's the big guy. Got some stubble, but it's more of like," Electroshocker made an exaggerated gesture with his hands towards his face, "like a shadow? I dunno."
DJ thought that was a very broad description. "From the guys I've seen here, they're also quite big. And have the same stubble." For emphasis, he pointed to himself, and then to Demoman, who was chatting with a guy whom DJ never caught the name of. Though, he did have a pretty sick snapback.
"Trust me, you'll know who I mean when you see 'em," Electroshocker replied.
"If you say so, man."

Since that conversation with Electroshocker, DJ began to notice Scout more and more.
Everytime DJ walked past, or at least was near, Scout, his stare lingered. Maybe if he got to know the guy some more, that would lead him to more info about Commander...? There was at least some logic to that.
He couldn't seem to find a good time to actually walk up to Scout. The guy was always busy, and DJ was also busy himself. His team grew to like him quite a bit in the following days, thankfully!
